Kodaviah & Vishavané

"Look, sis," Esther Marie had explained to her friend as they were sitting down on chairs in front of the table together. "I ain't tryna take sides or anything but Kodaviah can make up his own decisions. Don't you think?"

They were all in the canteen right now, with Brandy not really talking to Kodaviah and vice versa because he had accepted J Star Valentine and his girlfriend Shawntae's deal.

They were clearly only using giving the deal to them because of the condition of Brandy's mother and brother were in right now.

Shawntae especially had felt guilty that Brandy's mother and brother only had 27 days left to live... they didn't know how long it was now.

It was definitely less than 20 though, maybe even fifteen.

Brandy had seen through their act, and she had really hoped that Kodaviah would have done the same thing but he didn't.

Esther Marie was trying to say to Brandy that she couldn't have forced Kodaviah to do something that he didn't want to do.

"So you're on his side now?!"

"I never said that, sis," Esther Marie had said to her, sighing. "Just... I don't know. Give it time. You know Kodaviah really doesn't like it when people pressure him to do something. Especially you."

Brandy didn't say anything.

Esther Marie was actually right about everything in a way.

She wasn't going to forgive Kodaviah though, not yet anyway.

He had to work for it.

In the meantime, Kodaviah's old friendship group also known as the Triple Ks weren't really talking to him either.

Ever since he had become famous, he had been ignoring them, and putting them at the bottom of his priority list.

This wasn't even on purpose though, and Kodaviah had tried to explain that to his Triple K homies Kalahandra and Khamil but they wouldn't listen.

Either way, when they had seen him, they had given him a dirty look as he had gone past them and the other way around.

A lot of people had known that Kodaviah had disobeyed Brandy so therefore they didn't like him because of it, not that Kodaviah had cared what strangers had thought because he didn't.

Why should he?

He had ended up sitting by himself on one of the tables because everybody had seemed to be against him.

That was everybody...

Except Brandy and Esther's ex best friend known as Vishavané.

This girl really wasn't speaking to them, and she hadn't done so in the longest time either.

She had met Kodaviah eating his mac and cheese all by himself, going up over to him.

A lot of fake people wanted to use Kodaviah for ulterior motives, mainly to get to J Star Valentine as well as Shawntae.

The saddest thing was Kodaviah would have never really seen through their act most of the time.

Vishavané wasn't like that.

"Why so glum, chum?"

He was listening to music so he didn't really hear her that well.

The song he was listening to right now, aka Charlie Wilson's bit of the song Signs by Snoop, Justin Timberlake and him had totally described his situation.

Kodaviah wasn't really that close to Vishavané.

They were friends, yes.

They just weren't close.

He had felt as though he would have been disrespecting Brandy and Esther Marie if he had spoken to her, whilst they were still friends anyway.

He couldn't really have cared less about them.

Vishavané was sitting down right opposite Kodaviah, drinking cold Capri Sun- the black currant flavour.

Because Kodaviah's music was really loud, which was actually on purpose come to think of it, he couldn't have heard her.

So she had touched his hand.

And she had removed his earphones for him.

When Kodaviah had seen her, not only did he look partially unhappy, he had also wanted to know why she was here as well.

"I hear you ain't speaking to Brandy and Esther Marie. Not only that, but Kalahandra and Khamil ain't talking to you either. Ever since you've been working for J Star and Shawntae, all your closest friends just hate you, right?"

Honestly speaking, Kodaviah couldn't have said that better himself.

But that didn't mean that he wanted to hear the truth, because he didn't.

"Why the heck does this concern you, Vishavané? No offence."

"I'm just saying, not being friends with them isn't really that bad," she chuckled, with Kodaviah just looking at her blankly. "I mean, ever since they've left my life, my life has been so much better. I've finally found people that really appreciate me for who they are."

"But Esther and Brandy did appreciate you for who you are. You just left them."

Yes. Because Esther Marie had called her a burden.

In her room.

They had probably been thinking this way for a long time, so Vishavané had done them a favour and she had left their friendship group for life.

"Anyway... what I guess I'm trying to say here is that you've still got me," she had reminded him, smiling.

Kodaviah honestly didn't know if she was flirting with him or if she was actually being serious about this whole thing.

"Tell you what, since you're so speechless, then why don't I come with you to J Star Valentine and Shawntae's house after university today?"

Kodaviah was their assistant.

Sometimes he was even in a lot of their music videos, it was actually a lot of fun.

But to bring Vishavané along with him?

He wasn't 100% sure right now on if that was a risk he was seriously willing to take.

"I don't know, Vishavané. I'm not allowed to bring visitors."

"It's me or nothing," she had beamed. "And I know you ain't gonna choose nothing."

He wanted to, but he didn't say anything.

She had gone after saying great.

Her last lecture had finished exactly the same time Kodaviah's last lecture was, they would have talked more after it.

He had then watched her leave.

And he had sighed.

What the heck did he just get himself into?

He didn't know.
