Chapter 13: Not wanted

Today was our last day here in Italy. Yesterday after Alex and me had dinner, nothing much had happened. We layed in my bed and watched some Netflix before Alex went to have a drink with the boys in a pub, near the hotel.

We were now on our way to the beach and the sun was shining bright. I was excited that we were going home tomorrow but I was also very sure that I would miss all of this. Just spending the time with the boys, Alex...

Talking about Alex... he was behaving very weird today again. I tried to talk to him this morning, excited because of what had happened yesterday between us, but he seemed to avoid me somehow. He didn't even really look at me. Did I do something?

When we arrived at the beach he sat next to Nick and usually he would always sit right next to me. I had this very weird feeling inside me. Did he regret our kiss last night? Or did he talk to Ava again? I looked over to Alex, confused.

Nick noticed and gave me a "What's going on" look. I shrugged while I placed my towel on the seat. Then I heard Nick mumble something to Alex. I tried to hear something but they were speaking to quiet. Then Nick turned to me again and gave me another weird look. This time it was something like "What the hell?". 

I took my sunscreen out of my bag and started applying it on my tanned skin. I was pretty proud of the color my skin has gotten. When I was done with applying the lotion almost all over my body, I had my back left. Usually Alex would help me now, just like he did the last couple of times but I was sure that if I asked him, he wouldn't do it.

I looked over to Cody. Was he involved in all of this? It didn't seem like they had an argument or something else though...

I went over to my brother and asked him if he could help me with my back. I was sitting in front of him when he was applying the sunscreen onto my skin. I looked over to Alex. Our eyes met for a second before he quickly turned away from me. In the next second I heard a ring come from his phone.

Someone had sent him a message..

"Okay Bub i'm done" Cody interrupted my thoughts.

"Thanks" I gave him a little smile before I made my way back to my seat. I looked over to Alex who was still texting and he was smiling... who was he texting with? Come down Diana, it's probably just a friend or a family member..

My thoughts went to my friends. I hadn't talked to them for a while and I was missing them like crazy. I couldn't wait to finally see and hug them again.

I reached out for my bag and took my polaroid camera. I took it with me to the beach today because I thought I could do some nice pictures of the beach and the boys. I let out a little sigh.

Then I felt a hand on one of my shoulders. I looked up. It was Nick who was giving me a comforting smile.

"How are you feeling today?", he questioned.

"I'm better, thanks. Alex took good care of me yesterday.." I got quieter by the end of the sentence.

He squeezed one of my shoulders.

"Come on let's get in the water" he took one of my hands and we started walking towards the water.

I was back in my hotel room and thinking about Alex once again. After the kiss  and our little dinner yesterday I thought everything would start goin the right direction, in our relationship. But it seemed like everything was even worse now...

I started packing my suit case. I couldn't believe everything was over now. The time went over so fast. We had really fun but also a lot of crazy stuff happened.

I took my toothbrush, my shampoo and everything that I had left in the bathroom and put it in my little case. I went over to my desk so I could take my hairbrush but I stopped before I grabbed it. The polaroid I had taken of Alex interrupted me. Ouch.

He looked so beautiful on this picture and I was sure that this would forever be my favorite picture of him. Thinking back to that day made my heart hurt. It was such a beautiful day.

I heard a knock on my door. I quickly put the polaroid picture into my case as I went to open the door. It was Cody.

"Hey Diana, we're all in Alex and Matt's room.. do you want to join us? We got snacks and drinks" Cody gave me a little smile.

I nodded my head and gave him a smile back. I quickly went into my room and took my phone before I closed the door behind me. I followed my brother.

The door was  slightly open and I could hear laughter come from inside. I slowly pushed the door as I stepped in. The boys were all sitting on the bed. Alex was laughing about something Nick or Matt had said to him. They seemed to have a good time. But then Alex noticed me and his smile faded. Damn..

I turned around and I was about to leave the room. I just couldn't stay in the same room with someone who obviously didn't want me here...

Cody grabbed my arm.

"Hey Bub where are you going?" the room went quiet and I felt everyone look at me.

"I'm going into my room, I think I'm not wanted here." I regretted saying that right after, because it sounded so childish but I just was really mad and upset. I just wanted to know why Alex hated me so much all of sudden, after everything that he did yesterday. I tried to get free from Cody's grip but he didn't let go of me.

"What are you saying? Who doesn't want you?" Cody looked at me confused.

I slowly turned around to the rest of the boys. Alex was looking away while Nick and Matt were looking at me. Cody also turned to face them.

"It's not true Bub, come in" Cody closed the door as I started walking towards the sofa. I sat down and I was feeling very uncomfortable. Mine and Alex's eyes met for a second before he looked away again.

"Come sit down on the bed Diana" Matt said waving his hand.

I let out a little sigh and sat next to Alex. All I wanted to do was lay in my bed and listen to some music.

"I can't believe we're going home tomorrow again" I heard Nick say after a while.

"Me too" I said quietly while looking down on the sheets of the bed.

"We had a great time. It was fun with you Diana." Matt said while shoving some candy into his mouth. I looked up to him.

"Really?" i let out a little laugh.

"I'm glad you came with us." my brother said while handing me a coca cola. Both Nick and Matt were nodding with their heads and smiling. Of course there was one person who didn't say anything about that. I gave all three of them a little smile.

"I'm also glad" I said quiet.

We had a lot of nice conversations and ate a lot of tasty sweets. Of course Alex had ignored me the whole time but I just decided that I wouldn't let him ruin my last day. If he decided to not talk to me, it was his own fault.

After an hour or two we all decided to get back into our rooms and get some sleep.

I was mad at Alex but I really tried to ignore it. Maybe he would be different tomorrow again. Man, one day he was giving me wrong impressions and the next day he was completely ignoring me. It really started getting on my nerves, but I just wasn't able to not love him...
