(At the hokage's house...)

"What do you mean, A-ranked mission!" Hoshiko wailed. She hung her head. "But seeing as I have no way out of this, I...suppose I should ask what the mission is about," she finished, mumbling.

Lady Tsunade pinched the bridge of her nose. "Yes, perhaps you should have done that BEFORE you decided to give me a headache."

Hoshiko, Neji, Kiba, and Shikamaru were standing in front of the hokage's desk, awaiting orders. Or, at least, Neji, Kiba, and Shikamaru were. Hoshiko was busy despairing about the mission that she hadn't even heard the details about yet.

Lady Tsunade straightened. "You are to go on an A-ranked suppress and escort mission." She held up a picture. "You are to bring this man by the name of Asahi Suzuki back to the village unharmed and disarmed." Hoshiko took a closer look at him. He had dark brown hair falling over his face, bored gray eyes, sharp features, and a skinny but tall build. She blinked.

"This guy is worthy of an A-ranked mission? He just looks like a teenage heartthrob to me," Hoshiko ground out, eyes wide. Shikamaru snorted and Kiba looked at the photo with disdain.

"Don't underestimate this boy," the hokage warned. "He's killed half a village, and got in and out of ours undetected. Thankfully, he didn't take anything that we know of, but it's still a pressing situation. No one kills half a village and then tours the Hidden Leaf. We predict he's somewhere around here, about 15 miles north. We need to find out what he wants and who he's working for, if anyone."

Hoshiko stood at attention, much more invested in the mission now. "Leave it to us, milady."

"Alright then. Hoshiko Agawa, Kiba Inuzuka, Shikamaru Nara, and Neji Hyuga, I leave this mission in your capable hands."

Kiba stepped forward a bit. "Who's gonna be leader of the mission? Surely we need a captain for something as serious as this one." Lady Tsunade bit her lip, sizing us up. "I want Hoshiko to be leader." Hoshiko was a bit taken aback, but recovered swiftly.

"Yes, milady," she replied. The hokage nodded.

"You are to leave within the hour," she stated. "Milady," they said in unison, filing out of the room.

                                                                                            * * *

"Alright, Hoshiko, what's the plan?"

The four of them were gathered at the front gate, huddled around their team leader, who had spread a piece of paper on the ground in front of them. It was Neji who had spoken, fed up with Hoshiko only staring at the piece of paper and not explaining. Hoshiko stared at the paper for another few minutes before responding.

"Okay, I think I have a plan. It may not be a good one, but it's a plan nevertheless. I was only given an hour, so cut me some slack. I don't have a 200 IQ like Shikamaru." She said the last part in a helpless tone, splaying her hands out in front of her. Then she pointed to the four dots she had been studying for the past fifteen minutes. The one at the front was a blue one, with a smaller, darker dot attached to it. Behind it were two pink dots, on either side of the blue ones. And between the two pink dots, just barely behind them, was an orange one.

Hoshiko jabbed her finger onto the two blue dots. "That's Kiba and Akamaru," she stated. Then she slid her finger to the pink dot on the right, and declared, "That's Shikamaru." The other pink dot was herself. "And the orange dot is Neji," she finished. Neji scrubbed his hand over his face.

"You spent a quarter of an hour drawing dots and naming them?"

"Yes," Hoshiko replied matter-of-factly, like this was perfectly normal. Then her face grew more serious. "Kiba and Akamaru's nose can scout ahead, I'm able to protect all of us from my position, as is Shikamaru, and I want Neji to focus his attention behind us. That way, we can have 360 degree protection. All of us need to keep an eye above and below us, though, so stay vigilant. This formation can work as defense and offense at the same time, whether he decides to attack us or he tries to hide."

Shikamaru nodded approvingly. "Alright, weapons. Show me what you guys have."

Hoshiko grabbed her special kunai from her pouch (the first threat), threw it up in the air, and caught it. "This is all I need, but I brought along a few shuriken, as well as-" she opened her pouch again, peering in. "About 15 meters of string, 10 paper bombs, and a few smoke bombs."

Kiba brought along paperbomb kunai, food pills, and flash bombs. Neji was armed with kunai, makibishi spykes, and shuriken, and Shikamaru had stocked up on kunai, some smoke bombs, and a bunch of trapping methods. Neji nodded, satisfied with the team's arsenal. Kiba grinned.

"Let's get going, then, shall we?"
