After Virgil's stitches and bandaging, Roman couldn't help but think about his past, before he was saved by Logan and Thomas. He remembered it all like it was yesterday.
Virgil had woken up and noticed Roman was crying. He sat up looking at him, "Y-you okay?"
Roman looked at him and wiped his face, "Yeah, I'm sorry."
Virgil put a hand on his arm, "What's the matter?"
Roman looked at Virgil and sighed looking down, "I was just thinking... When I was younger, I had a twin brother. We used to play all the time together. He played find the clam, truth or dare, we raced with dolphins and sharks. It was amazing." He took a deep breath and had a flash back while telling him the story.
It was ten years ago when the incident happened. Roman was swimming at a lagoon with his green and silver brother Remus. It was a nice warm morning until Remus noticed dark clouds in the sky.
Roman had also noticed it but kept on playing, "Come on Remus, we have a few more minutes until the storm hits, let's keep playing!" He laughed as he jumped out of the water to do a flip and dove back in.
Remus clapped for him quicky forgetting about the clouds, "That was amazing Roman."
Roman continued to play and Remus noticed something in the distance after a few minutes went by. He noticed it was coming in fast, "Roman, let's go home."
Roman looked at him, "Why? The wind hasn't picked up yet."
Remus looked at him, "Please Roman, we have to go." He saw the object get closer and more clearer, it was a pirate ship. "Roman come on!"
Roman ignored him and continued to play.
It was at the last minute Roman found out why Remus wanted to go home. The pirates were already on land and tried to throw a net over Roman.
Remus pushed him away and got captured himself.
Roman hit his back on the rocks and hit his head making it bleed. All he could hear was the screams of Remus as the pirates hit him and cut him. Roman tried to get them off him but the captain hit him with his cane several times in the chest.
The pirates left with Remus knowing Roman wouldn't make the trip. That was the last time he had ever saw him. Roman had passed out, not knowing when the pirates took Remus, or even if he was still alive.
He had been out there all by himself for the next week, he was week, hasn't eaten, he felt intense pain in his chest from three broken ribs and a large headache from the rock he hit. The storm had swept him up and put him on the beach.
Logan and Thomas heard about the storm so they went sailing to the island to make sure everyone wasn't hurt. They quickly saw Roman laying there unconscious. They put him in the boat quickly and Logan gave him an x-ray while Thomas went out to see if there were any other creatures.
Luckily it was just Roman and they sailed back to the hospital where they did surgery on him there and cared for him.
When Roman woke up to see where he was he panicked for a few minutes, he even punched Logan in the face and gave him a black eye. He couldn't stop questioning and worrying about Remus, but he lost hope on finding him when it's been five years of searching.
"I gave up, and if I ever did find him alive, I'd be so mad at myself for giving up so easily, I still haven't forgiven myself when I ignored him." He teared up more.
Virgil put a hand on his shoulder, "I'm sorry Roman. I don't know what I'd do if I lost Olivia. And you didn't know what was happening, maybe it was your fault but after everything you still searched for him for five years. If you do find him, you could tell him your guilt and tell him you tried to look for him for five years."
Roman looked at him, "Maybe you're right, but still, I should've listened or asked for the reason, and I still ignored him. And Olivia is your sister right?"
Virgil nodded looking down. He heard his stomach growl and wrapped his arms around himself.
Roman looked at him, "Enough about my past, we should get you something to eat."
Virgil shook his head, "No it's okay, I don't want to take your food supply."
Roman shook his head, "Hey, no worries. We have a lot of food here."
Virgil rubbed his arm, "I guess it won't be so bad."
Roman smiled and got up, "Do you need help swimming?"
Virgil shook his head, "No, it's okay." He got up and tried to swim but he didn't go anywhere.
Roman rolled his eyes playfully and picked him up bridal style. He swam out of the pod making sure he didn't hit Virgil's head or hurt his tail.
Virgil looked at him and blushed quickly burying his head into his shoulder before Roman could see.
Roman looked at him and chuckled. A few turns later, Roman had found Thomas cleaning a bit. He set Virgil down on the floor, "I'll be right back okay, stay here." He swam up to the surface talking to Thomas.
While Roman talked to Thomas, Virgil knew Roman told him to stay but he couldn't help his hunger. He was a bit impatient and decided to go ahead and search on his own without telling Roman. He stayed close to the ground as he floated in the hallways.
When he couldn't find anything he started to head back but quickly got lost. He looked around every corner to see if one looked familiar but each one looked the same. He grew panicked, then heard something moving in the same hallway he was in. He turned around and started to glow, there was a plant then a light blue mer playing with it.
Patton looked at him and raised his arms in surrender, "Please don't scream, I'm a friend of Roman."
Virgil backed up a bit nervously staying very close to the floor.
Patton noticed he was nervous and sat down on the floor holding out his hand, "It's okay kiddo, no need to be afraid, I'm Patton."
Virgil looked at his hand and hesitantly took it, "V-virgil..."
Patton gave him a friendly smile, "That's a beautiful name Virgil."
Virgil started to loosen up, "Thanks." He looked around still trying to find his way out of there.
Patton tilted his head letting his hand go, "Are you lost?"
Virgil looked at him and rubbed his arm, "Maybe..."
Patton smiled, "Don't worry, I'll help you out." He got up then swam behind Virgil making clicking noises.
Roman heard the clicking and looked into the water, he looked back at Thomas, "So I guess I'll see you at pod C?"
Thomas nodded, "And I'll bring the tuna."
Roman smiled, "Thanks Thomas." He swam down and noticed Virgil was gone, "Oh boy." He quickly swam to where he heard the clicks looking for him as fast as he could.
Patton turned around and looked at Virgil, "He'll be here in a bit."
