"So in this problem, we would just do a system of three equations, which are our restrictions..."
I looked out the window, the wind fighting against the window was making a noise that just made me shiver. I wondered if it was cold and rainy where he was. My eyes focused on the sky, filled with different monochromatic shades. I couldn't stop looking at it, there was something so mesmerizing about it. I wanted to be with him. There, at that moment, was when I needed him most. I just wanted to be in a café with him, admiring the sky, the people, the city.
I heard someone clear their throat.
I looked forward again, seeing my math teacher staring at me.
"Yes, you, Miss, the one admiring the world outside. What would you do next?"
"Well I would probably do the matrice, then its determinant, depending on the answer to that, the Gauss or Cramer method."
"Well done. That's amazing for not having listened to a single word I said. Please pay attention from now on, Miss..."
"Y/L/N. Y/N Y/L/N." I stuttered.
I side-eyed my best friend, Lexi, who smiled to herself.
Once the teacher went back to his algebra I whispered to her, "Why did he even have to call on me? I bet there's a whole bunch of people who aren't paying attention."
"Cause he doesn't thinks you're smart. But you definitely showed him." She smiled.
"Why are you so happy at nine in the morning? We've only done an hour of class."
"That means we have only one more hour left!" She said excitedly.
I decided to see how the math problem was coming out, focusing on the board. I saw my teacher give me a glare before returning to what he was doing.
I rushed out of the classroom when the teacher said we were finished for the day.
"Ms. Y/L/N. May I have a word with you?" He spoke as I reached the door.
I rolled my eyes, walking back up to him.
"Actually, I-" I started, looking back at Lexi, who was waiting outside the classroom.
"Is there anything going on? Are you alright? I sensed you were a bit-" He spoke as soon as everyone had left.
"Professor, I'll be alright. Thank you for noticing." I smiled weakly.
"Okay, I just wanted to make sure. Try not to be so distraught in class because I know you'll get a good grade." He smiled back.
"Ok, see you Monday." I replied, before hurrying out of there.
"You got noticed by our hot new teacher, wow." Lexi giggled.
I rolled my eyes in response.
"What?"
"I'm with Harry, you know that."
"Yeah, I just wanted to point out that you're on fire. Your boyfriend is really hot. Our teacher is really hot, and he couldn't stop looking at you. But you deserve all those things because you're such an amazing and beautiful person, so I get it." She went on.
"Lexi, you are too. And you'll find the right guy soon."
"I hope I do tonight! You're coming, right?"
"Of course I'm not. Harry and I are skyping tonight. You know how difficult it is for us to have a moment with all these time differences." I fought back.
"I forgot, sorry. Let's go back home and watch something?" She pouted.
"Yeah, let's go." I said, hugging her as we walked.Right when Noah confessed to Allie that he actually had written to her and they share a passionate kiss, my phone buzzed.
I huffed as I unlocked the screen. This better be important, I was taking time off watching The Notebook.
My heart leapt as I saw the message was from Harry. He asked me if we were still Skyping later. Since he saw that I was online, he called.
I got off the sofa and walked to the kitchen to answer.
"Hiiii." I said shyly.
"Hey babe. I'm so excited to see you and hear you tonight."
"I know! I miss you so much."
"You still love me, right?" He asked, half joking half doubting my love for him.
"Don't even joke about that. You know I love you infinitely."
"Sometimes I wish I could just get the first plane and go to you. Be there, by your side."
"You're always with me. Just like I'm always there with you. You're a part of me and you go with me anywhere I go."
"I know." I heard him whisper. He sniffled after that and I knew that he felt like crying.
I was tearing apart inside, but I had to keep us afloat.
"It's okay, Harry. We'll Skype in a while and then in four months I'll be there with you every single day. You have to be proud, you're making millions of people happy."
"I love you so much, you know that?"
"I do. Now go sing your heart out and we'll talk after, yeah?"
"Okay. I love you."
"I love you too." I sighed as we hung up.
I plopped down on the couch again, watching Noah and Allie's happy ending. And for a moment I wished that it would be that easy. But my boyfriend was thousands of miles away from me and he wasn't there when I wanted him to be there for me. I felt Lexi caress my cheek.
"Don't cry, Y/N. You'll see him soon." She reassured.
I hugged her, needing her more than ever.
