I knocked repeatedly, hoping he would hear me. I waited after, trying to control my breathing. My heart seemed to be escaping from my chest.
"Y/N. What's wrong?" Mike asked.
"Y/N, wait!" Harry yelled from the distance.
Mike then noticed the tears as I looked up at him,
his face softening as he let me in his room.
"I'm fine. I just need to ask you something. And I know you said I shouldn't ask you because it didn't concern you, but I need to know." I explained rapidly.
"Okay. I guarantee you that I will reply to any of your questions, but first you have to do something for me." He said calmly.
"What is it?" I questioned desperately. I needed answers.
"Take a deep breath." He replied, putting his hands on my shoulders.
It seemed he was used to doing this. Maybe he had children, given his fatherly advice.
"OK. Now ask me anything you want." He started once I had calmed down.
"You know when we got here, that you were talking to Harry and you said you wouldn't lie to me? Well, was it because he was seeing someone or something like that?" I queried.
His knitted eyebrows told me otherwise.
"No. It was because he didn't want to be seen with you. Now, I don't know why. Maybe you should ask him." He suggested.
I bit my lip, still unsure.
"Go see him." He insisted.
I hugged him before leaving.

I walked out of his room to see Louis and Harry arguing.
"Look, mate it's not your problem!" Harry fought, tears flooding down his cheeks.
"You made her cry, Harry. That's not cool. I won't let you see her." Louis replied, crossing his arms.
"You know I never wanted it to end like this!" Harry whined. "
Alright boys, break it up." Mike, who was right next to me, ordered.
Harry looked up at me.
"Y/N. please let me talk to you. I need you to know the truth." Harry confessed.
"Okay." I responded, taking a chance.
I walked over to him. He wanted to take my hand to lead us to our room but I shook my head.
I turned around to see Louis and Mike, each of them at their door, with a worried expression on their faces.
I nodded at them, reassuring them I was okay. But I didn't only do it for them, I did it for myself.
We walked back into our room and it seemed so different. I didn't feel comfortable anymore. But I would listen to Harry like an adult. And move on.
"What are you still doing here?" Harry asked as we saw Kendall pacing back and forth.
"We're ending this now, Harry. I don't care about the consequences. She didn't deserve this." Kendall stated.
She looked confident and most importantly, willing to tell all.
"Go on." I incited, crossing my arms and leaning on the kitchen counter.
I needed them to explain everything.
"We signed a contract a long time ago, that's all. We had a number of appearances we had to do and at the end of the day, it's more money for us. Magazines were willing to pay a lot of money to see us together and our management sort of decided it for us. We're not in love with each other, Y/N. We're just good friends. Harry can't stop talking about you, he really really loves you. And I'm not gonna let a publicity stunt tear up your relationship." Kendall said, letting words spill out.
"I wanted the extra money to bring you with me on tour. This was the last time we had to be seen together and I thought I could do something discreet and I wouldn't have to tell you any of this. I was scared, baby. Scared you wouldn't believe me. I would never cheat on you and you know that. You know who I am. You know that I'm not the lad the press says I am. You know that, right? Because if you believe that, I can't do this anymore. I can't let you walk out my life because of the media. I love you, Y/N. Please, you know that's not me." Harry pleaded.
His face was red and stuffy from crying.
"When you came in a while ago, I was soothing Harry because he was crying. He didn't want to do it. Management could ruin us if we don't do as told. Mostly because we have a contract and that would be enough proof for them to sue us. I told Harry I would take a chance and help him, I didn't want to cause problems between the two of you. But he insisted on doing it so I wouldn't lose my job. That's the Harry we all know. The kindest, sweetest and most considerate person I know. I think I've said enough. I know you know him enough to know who's telling the truth here." She continued, rubbing my shoulder as she headed for the door.
"Kendall, wait." I said, breaking the silence.
She turned around to see what I had to say.
"Thank you." I smiled weakly.
She nodded before leaving.

I looked up at Harry once we were alone.
"Harry, I was afraid something like this would happen to us when we first started going out."
I paused to take a few steps closer to him. He looked hurt.
"But we've been together for a while now. A long while. Long enough for me to know that if you liked somebody else you would be honest enough to tell me. So, I have to ask-"
"No." Harry interrupted.
"I don't love her. I love you. It was all publicity." He continued, new tears forming in his eyes.
"Stop. Stop crying." I said softly, closing the space between us to wipe away his tears.
"I just love you, Y/N. And we have to leave for rehearsals soon and I don't want you to break up with me." He sobbed.
"I'm not breaking up with you." I assured him.
He looked at me, not saying anything.
"I believe you, Harry. But let's promise each other that nothing the media says or does will break us up." I proposed, caressing his cheek.
"No matter how horrible it is."
Harry nodded and kissed me forcefully. So many emotions were bottled up, mostly concern. Concern we wouldn't be a couple anymore.
We kissed each other as if we were to say goodbye forever. But we weren't. And that was the best part.
