"Do you think they'll be there?" I asked Harry when we were in the elevator with the boys, holding onto his arm.
"They're waiting for us. They want a new cover story." Harry replied.
"Don't worry, Y/N. You'll learn to get used to it." Louis smiled, patting my back.
I turned around to see Mike behind me.
"I'm sorry." I mouthed.
He shrugged with a smile, as if he had already forgotten.
The elevator doors opened, indicating we were at the ground floor. We all made our way to the entrance of the hotel. The plan was to go one by one, obviously for security reasons.
Harry and I were the last ones to leave.
"Don't be scared, Y/N. We're right behind you." Mike said into my ear, giving me a squeeze on the shoulder.
"Ready?" Harry asked, holding my hand tightly.
I nodded.
As the hotel doors opened, you could hear noise right away. It was a mix of mumbling from the excited photographers waiting for us and all the other street sounds. Harry led the way to the car, our grasp firm.
Don't look at them.
"Y/N! Y/N!" They yelled, trying to catch my attention.
Just concentrate on the floor.
"HARRY, GIVE HER A KISS!"
Look at your shoes.
"SHOW US SOME LOVE!"
Almost there. You can do it.
Harry opened the door and let me go in first. I could still hear them yelling but I couldn't make out what they said. Harry came in and closed the door behind him, muffling the sound."Are you coming with me to the sound check?" Harry asked, intertwining his fingers with mine. "Yeah. I might not go to rehearsals in the afternoon though. I want to see the city a bit." I replied.
"But will you make it in time to see me rehearsing my parts?" Harry whined.
"Of course I will. I'll be there." I promised, caressing his cheekbone with one finger.
"If you do, I'll show you the best views in all of Birmingham." He whispered, holding out his hand for me to shake it.
"You've got a deal." I replied, shaking it.
I leaned on him, resting my head on his shoulder until we got to the arena. We got in through the back to avoid anyone seeing us.
We met up with the rest of the boys inside. I could tell they were all excited. We began walking to the stage.
"How was it, dealing with the paps?" Niall asked me.
I shrugged, shaking my head.
"Were they rude?" Liam questioned, concerned.
"No. Well. I don't know. I just feel startled about it." I replied, looking at the floor.
"Don't worry. It's difficult at first but you manage to get used to it." Louis smiled, turning around to talk to me since he was leading us.
"This is where the magic happens." Harry whispered in my ear behind me, taking my hand.I sat on the stage while the boys checked if the sound was okay.
"Can we play a little something for my girl?" Harry asked into the mic, looking over at me.
My heart skipped a beat. The boys looked over at me too, to see my reaction. I felt my cheeks burn and I looked down at my lap.
And then Fireproof started playing. He knew that was my favorite song off the album. I covered my face with my hands to cover my embarrassment. I heard footsteps approaching me which I supposed were Harry's.
I looked up to see him crouch beside me, embracing me with one arm while he held the microphone in the other.
"I think I'm gonna lose my mind. Something deep inside me I can't give up." Harry sang next to me.
I turned to face him, mouthing every single word as I sat there in awe. His voice was angelical and I had the honor to be right next to him while he sang.
While Niall sang, Harry helped me get up to dance with him. He held out his hands for me to hold onto while we danced, but I closed the space between us resting my arms on his shoulders.
"Nobody loves you baby, the way I do." I whispered in his ear as Liam sang it.
He chuckled softly and joined the boys in singing the rest of the chorus.
I traced a heart on his chest and walked away to be with the Niall and Louis, who were sitting at the edge of the stage.
Niall and I watched Louis sing his part. Niall and I looked at each other, nodding at how well Louis had sung.
We starting dancing excitedly, doing a little choreography to which Louis joined after.
They all sung the chorus, so I just kept dancing and singing along. I walked over to Liam. He took my hand and spun me around. Then Niall and Louis ran over to us to dance too. We were facing Harry and they all stood behind me.
I felt like I was in a movie, having music in the background while we just stood there shyly. Harry smiled and approached me.
He took my hand as he sang, "It's been so long, it's been so long, maybe you were fireproof. Cause nobody saves me, baby, the way you do."
He bowed and kissed my hand. Niall, Liam and Louis clapped at the end of the song. I grabbed Harry and kissed him repeatedly, but let go soon after because his phone rang.
"I'm gonna take this. I'll be right back." He smiled as he scurried away.
I walked back to the boys.
"Can we bring you on stage tonight? I had a lot of fun." Niall giggled.
"No, I'm not part of the band. And the fans would hate me even more now that they barely found out Harry and I are together." I said, shaking my head. "Well it's not my fault!" We heard Harry yell.
We turned around to see him frustrated.
"What's gotten into him?" Liam asked me, as if I knew.
"I have no idea." I said, still watching him.
He was gesturing, as if he was trying to explain something over the phone.
"Don't worry, Y/N. It's probably nothing." Louis assured, putting his arm around me to turn me back around.
