The sound of grass crunching beneath Feng Jiu's feet was the only thing she could hear walking back to her home after leaving Dong Hua in Bai Gui's pavilion.

Until the sounds of giggling and laughing made their way towards her.

Feng Jiu, feeling a little daring, having every confidence that no naked man would embrace her, hid inside bushes to wait for her prey.

Mingmei was both a nine-tailed fox and dragon had already smelt her sister and felt her lowering herself in the bushes. Mingmei sent her friends forward to carry on with their conversation, unbeknownst to them, and went back to meet Feng Jiu from behind.

Having spent years playing hide and go seek with the disciples of Kun Lun, her cousins in each of the five kingdoms and the Qing Qiu residents, she learnt how to be a good seeker. Mingmei changed into her fox form and climbed the trees to move in a more stealth-like manner.

Ricocheting from branch to branch, she purposely moved this way to make the least amount of noise as possible, doing her best to sway with the breeze, as the wind hit the branches.

This was one part of the training she had with her grandfather that she loved because she would be tasked to creep up on people without them knowing to frighten them.

Mingmei waited for her perfect moment as she watched from above giggling to herself, but when she was about to jump on Feng Jiu, she felt a cold fabric-like power swaddle her tightly and was lifted and changed back to her natural form until she was put to sleep.

When Feng Jiu came out to frighten the children, they all screamed at the top of their lungs, making Feng Jiu laugh in joy. Once the shock left them, they all laughed alongside Feng Jiu.

"That was a good one, Your Majesty!" One little grey wolf spoke up.

Laughing, she looked around the small crowd. "Where is Mingmei? Did I not hear her before?"

"She left not long ago." One of the twins, Jia, spoke up.

"She was talking about getting some things from the market earlier. She might have left to fetch them." Jun, the other twin answered, adding to the mystery.

"Okay, come over home for dinner. I have some things for you to do for me, then I will take you home, okay?"

"Yes, Your Majesty." The children of seven replied except the twins who were bickering with each other.

"Jia Jun! Did you hear me?" Feng Jiu spoke more forcibly to get their attention.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Then go first, play at the back, you know the rules, don't have me repeat myself. I will call out once the food is ready."

Each child bowed deeply and ran off towards the back of Feng Jiu's home. She saw them beginning to build another pavilion, and left them to their own imagination.

She had cooked stir-fried cabbage with pork greaves, stir-fried lamb with green garlic, braised spare ribs, and soy sauce chicken within an incense stick.

"Wow, so much food?" Jia exclaimed running towards the kitchen, "Yes, but I would like you to take this food to High God Zhe Yan." Feng Jiu motioned behind her to a heap of food on an open fire cooking. "High God Mo Yuan will be dining with him this evening, and he would like food taken to him, would you do this for me?"

"You, you mean the War God?" Jia almost screamed in excitement.

Smiling, Feng Jiu knew just how much Qing Qiu's children admired the great Gods that she once revered just as much as they were. But there was much about each of them that she had learned outside of scrolls that showed their vulnerabilities.
