"Mother, despite what you think, there are too many uncertainties in this story." She looked over at Feng Jiu with warmth, "We are all the same, but I do not believe she would give herself to Ziqi so easily."

"Despite that, Dijun needs to stay away from her."

"Mother, are we expected to trust what the Demon Lord saw thousands and thousands of years ago? Many things could have changed."

"You would risk it?" Dong Hua spoke up walking towards Feng Jiu.

"Dijun." Bai Qian and Bai Ren bowed to greet him.

"You would risk her life?" Dong Hua urged Bai Qian to answer while hovering his hands over Feng Jiu's body to check her energy levels. "Crown Princess, do not be so ignorant to think that the many anomalies would discredit what Yan San had seen entirely."

"But where was Ye Hua? and what happened to Miao Luo?"

Dong Hua raised his hand to stop Bai Ren from speaking as he could see she wanted to stop Bai Qian from continuing. "Who holds the key to Ziqi's release?"

"But...."

Looking at her to answer, he asked again. "Who hold's the key to Ziqi's release?"

Bai Qian looked at him. "You do, You and Feng Jiu hold the key to his release."

"I do not wish for her to bear such burdens; it matters not whether Ye Hua and the Demon were present; these facts are enough to act cautiously."

"Will you keep away from her?" Bai Ren asked.

"I want her to be safe, of course, that means my absence." He moved to take his place back at the foot of the bed. "But for now, I will stay with her till she wakes." He conjured a scroll and continued reading where he left off.

Seeing an opportunity to take the break they needed, they left Feng Jiu in his capable hands.

Feng Jiu could hear muffled sounds of people talking; her body would not move when she wanted it to; she tried desperately to open her eyes, but her eyelids would not lift despite her many attempts. She started to groan as it was the only sound she could make, which caught the attention of those around her.

She felt her arm lift and a cold hand clasp her wrist; she frowned at the intrusion until she felt the hand adjust its temperature to a warmer setting.

A fragrance filled her nostrils that triggered painful memories causing Feng Jiu's eyes to water, her stomach twisted in pain while her heart ached. She could feel her body released from whatever had been wrapping her.

When she felt completely free, she opened her eyes to see Bai Yi and her mother Guan-Yi hovering over her. Sandalwood filled the room, and she had expected to see him. The pain overwhelmed her again, her stomach felt empty, and yet she felt sick. She sobbed softly until Guan-Yi had her sit up while stroking her head.

Feng Jiu cried into her neck while entwining her fingers in Guan-Yi's hair, a self-soothing motion she did as a child and had unconsciously done again. "I love him, mother, he's everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I want to forget him."
