Chapter Thirty Nine
"Miss Summer, Engr. Velasquez is here to see you."
Nangunot ang noo ko sa narinig. I wasn't expecting to see Lianne today. Iniisip ko tuloy kung may usapan ba kami kahit na sigurado naman akong wala.
"Okay." sagot ko na lang at saka bahagyang inayos ang iilang kalat sa lamesa.
When the door opened again, hindi ko inasahan ang taong nakita.
"Reid!" gulat ngunit masaya kong sambit sa pangalan niya. Lumapit ito sa akin at mabilis akong kinulong ng yakap.
My nose filled with his scent. Pumikit ako at gumanti ng yakap dito.
"Hi!" excited kong bati. "When my secretary said Engr. Velasquez I thought it was Lianne! Sabi mo two days ka pa sa Singapore!" I said pouting when I moved away from our hug.
It's been three weeks since we've been okay. But last week he had to fly to Singapore for a business conference, although we have been video calling while he's abroad kaya naman hindi ko ine-expect na makikita siya ngayon dito.
"It wouldn't be a surprise now would it?" he smiled before leaning down to give me a peck.
"Miss Summ- ay sorry po!" sabay kaming naghiwalay nang marinig ang boses ng sekretarya. Nakita kong nagtakip ito ng mukha gamit ang dalawang kamay.
"What is it Faith?" I asked.
"I was just going to ask po sana, if Engr. Velasquez wants some coffee, juice or water.." nakatakip pa rin ang mukhang sagot nito.
"You may uncover your face now Faith.." I told her. Tumalima naman ito kaagad at alanganing tumingin sa amin.
"I knocked twice naman po.."
Hindi ko pinansin ang sinabi nito. It's not like I am hiding my relationship, I mean our relationship.. it's just that I don't need to tell it to the world. Having a private but not hidden relationship is all I want. Kaya naman ipinagkibit balikat ko lamang ang nangyari ngayon
"It's fine.." sagot ko dito saka ako tumingin kay Reid. "Coffee?"
Mabilis itong umiling at saka binaling ang tingin kay Faith.
"I'm fine, but thanks." he said politely. Faith nodded in response before going out again, closing the door behind her. "You're so cold with your secretary."
"I am nice to her." pagtatama ko sa sinabi nito. Hinatak ko ito papunta sa couch na naroon at doon kami umupo, not even bothered that my secretary saw us together. It's not like its a big deal anyway. "So why are you here?"
Huminga muna ito ng malalim bagp nagsalita.
"I want to ask you out for dinner." he stated.
"Okay." mabilis kong sagot.
"Dinner with my family.."
"Which includes?" pinaningkitan ko ito ng mata.
"Just my parents and Lianne." kalmadong sabi nito.
"Fine." he flashed a smile upon hearing my answer.
He decided to just wait for me since it was already four in the afternoon but his presence is distracting me that I couldn't focus on my work. Ang kanina ko pang binabasang papel ay pa-ulit ulit lamang ako sa unang page dahil hindi ko halos maintidihan ang mga nabasa
Thirty minutes later and there's still no progress so I just gave that up and dragged him out of the office and decided to get out early.
"You're working under time."
