Chapter 7: Your second mission

The way back home was much shorter than the one to the mission. In just a few minutes you were going to be into the penthouse and everyone would want to hear about your first mission. What were you supposed to say? The team always had great stories to tell about how they saved people and fought bad guys. All you did was to read someone's mind.

Before you could finish with your thoughts the car stopped in front on the tower and the driver told you to get out with a emotionless, even rude and cold voice. You got out of the car in annoyance and slam the door behind you. In just a minute you were stepping into the penthouse and having all the eyes locked on you. Everyone was sitting around the living room waiting for you to come back. You gave them all a weak smile and moved to sit with them.

Once you at on the couch, just a little further form Tony, you let out a sigh and fell back leaving the room in complete silence.

"What happened kid?" Tony finally asked. You looked at him.

"Well, if I had to describe it with one word I would say...lame." Tony laughed gently and looked at the others.

"Of course it was lame it was your first mission."

"Tony I was a human lie-detector. They could easily replace me with a machine."

"You will be better in the next one." You eyes suddenly opened widely as these words came out of Tony mouth and you looked at him with a smile.

"What are you saying Stark?"

"I am saying that you could be a useful addition to the team." Your smile was now huge and you were unable to hide it.

"Now don't go crazy. Small missions only, for now."

"I'll take it. But now I really need to lay down for a bit." You got up and walked to your room.

"Come one we want to hear more!" Bucky said mockingly and you gave him a weird/funny face before you disappeared behind the wall and into the corridor.

You got your phone out of your bag and opened your instagram which completely districted you, causing you to bump into Loki.

"I'm sorry." You said as you looked into his green eyes.

"How was the mission." He asked ignoring your apology.

"Good. Could've been better. Boring basically." Why did words came out of you like that? You sounded like a robot.

"Good." He said and walked passed you.

Weird.

You walked into your room and closed the door behind you. It took you a few minutes to take off everything Nat had done and turn your hair back to their normal state and then got into the bathroom. You made yourself a hot steaming bath and sank yourself in there for about thirty minutes, taking the tension off of your shoulder and it felt great.

Once you were done you got into your pajamas and got under your warm covers. In less than a minute you were deep asleep.

The next week passed by very fast. You mostly trained with Nat and Bucky and exactly one week after your first mission a second one came in. This time it was a real mission.

A ship had left New York with some dangerous tech on it and some even more dangerous people handling it. You took the Quinjet in order to catch up with the ship and got silently on it. Each one had an area to cover and "clean". You spoke to each other through an earpeace Tony had give to you all.

The area you had to cover was the lower one. When you landed on the deck you slip up with the others and slowly moved towards the lower deck. You got down some stairs and hid behind a doorway when you heard a few voices coming from the other side. You closed your eyes and concentrated on their thoughts, trying to figure out how many of them there were. Eventually you found only three. You took a deep breath and got out of you hiding place appearing in from of the three men who immediately got into fighting positions. You didn't need to do the same. You stayed calm and gave them a small smirk to confuse them and then started talking.
