The company had just had lunch. Henry promptly returned to the stables while Aiden said farewell to his father.

"Our departure is near," Aiden said meekly.

Owen made a gentle smile and replied. "So it seems. Do write when you can..."

Aiden hardly let his father finish speaking when he wrapped his arms around him. "I'll write to you every week, father."

Closing his eyes, Owen embraced his son.

The young lord tore himself away from his father and pushed aside insuperable tears.

"May the North star guide you," Owen said after he regained his composure.

"And your path be true."

Making his way down the long steps of the castle, Aiden tried hard to look strong and not look back at his father.

After he followed the staircase all the way to the bottom, he arrived at the stables.

He looked at the noble horses of Eutkey. They were clad in iron armor and were clothed in light blue linen. The stableman tending to them had just finished unbuckling the last piece of iron from one of two horses that were wearing just the light blue linen.

"This will be your horses for the short journey, my lord. Your packs are already here. Leave at the local stables in our wayward village, and soon enough, one of the patrol brigades will fetch them," said the stableman before him.

"Thank you, good sir," Aiden replied.

"I'll miss you, Sunny."

Aiden swung round to face the other side of the stables. There he saw Henry brushing the back of his favorite brown horse. He approached him. "Sunny?"

"He always gets cranky when he doesn't get to stay by the window," Henry said without turning around.

"A fitting name then I see." Aiden quirked his brow. "Now, would you like to meet the actual horses we'll be riding today?"

Henry glanced at the behaved horses. "They're alright, but they lack personality. It concerns me."

Aiden tapped on the divider that stood between them. "Would you come over here, please?"

Swinging his leg over the wooden fence, Henry made a smooth landing on the other side.

"On a more serious note, Henry, are you ready for this journey."

"I should be asking you that."

The White Knight let out a little laugh.

"Have you said your goodbyes?" asked Henry.

"I've said farewell to father, that's all."

"Well, I'm ready to go if you are." Henry tapped him on his arm before going near the noble horses.
