The next day, Aiden went straight to the Messenger's Tower to find Alistair.

"Back so soon, Aiden?" said the sorcerer who was pleasantly surprised, seated by a desk.

"I want to know everything" replied Aiden.

"Everything?" Alistair stood up, pushing away the scrolls he had on the desk from different messengers.

"All my memories ... I want to get them all back," exclaimed Aiden.

"Your absolutely certain, you can handle this."

"I have to-I have to know."

They proceed to the infirmary room. Alistair let Aiden lie on the bed while he sat in front of the cross rail. He placed his hands at the sides of Aiden's head.

Aiden rested uneasily, his breath quivered.

"Remain calm, it will feel like living your life all over again, but it is your life Aiden. This is who you really are."

...

Aiden slowed his breath into a steady rhythm. "I'm ready, Alistair."

A piercing pain rippled through his head, Aiden groaned and a bright light overcomes his sight.

He found himself amongst boys roughly his age facing a knight.

"The Trials consists of three stages. The first stage is to trek four leagues across the forest. At the end of it will be the second stage of the Trials." The knight looked around to see if the enlistees were paying attention. "Now gather around here." He positioned them along the edges of the forest. "You may go in groups or take your own paths. Just make it across the forest, if you are not there by the end of the day. A search party will be sent to find you." He smiled grimly. "Off you go" he added, shooing the enlistees away.

At first, they trekked as a whole group, then others started to argue on which way was the best route. Aiden ended up trekking alone, following a path him and his father always took when they were hunting. The first stage didn't pose much of a challenge for most of the enlistees, although there were others more tired than the rest. Nearing the end of the trek, they see three Elite Knights and a sorcerer. It was Alistair.
