Aiden and Henry traveled in minutes, a distance that would have taken them hours. They stopped at the tree line just before the main gate.

After Aiden violently patted Henry on the back and Henry put him down. Aiden paced forward and vomited. "Agggh, you know what? Next time just knock me out or give me a sleeping potion or something."

"You'll get used to it."

The young lord stood up. He saw the walls surrounding Rathorn were just a foot taller than a small farmhouse. The path leading into the enclosure was muddy with poor drainage and horse dung. "Put your cloak on," he said to Henry.

The pair walked on the damp road. Mud on their boots started to thicken.

Henry moved closer to Aiden and whispered, "Let the first thing you do as lord be to put some pavement on this road."

"For sure."

Shifting his gaze from side to side, Aiden saw the houses around them. They were made of wood that looked molded, and their structure looked crooked.

They had passed by 20 different houses before the path they followed started to look neater. Aiden and Henry soon arrived at a paved road, and with this newfound path, the houses around it were better built. The wood they were made of was of brighter color, and the houses looked sturdier with carved wood for doors instead of just rows of planks that the previous houses had.

Aiden eyed Henry. He had the same perturbed look with his brows furrowed.

Passing by at least 12 of those houses, they arrived at the base of a slope. In front of them was a sole, worn-down boarding house. Candlelight could be seen through their windows.

"Probably where the help live, eh?" Henry blurted out.

"Most likely."

Atop the stony mountain stood the keep.

Aiden kept staring at it while Henry smiled with excitement. He kept his eyes on the winding road leading up to the castle.

Upon noticing the delay, Henry glanced at the glaciated White Knight. "Aiden," he said.

The young lord gave him his attention.

"This is it," Henry said as he pointed at the castle.

Aiden nodded, cleared his throat, then paced forward. Henry followed shortly after. Keeping his silence, the young lord sulked for most of the assent.

When the two rounded the last corner, they saw a lake on the other side of the mountain. It was wide and murky; a gloom hung at the sight of it. Tall walls of the keep were near with two guards standing by its metal gate.

Aiden squared his shoulders and approached the guards.

"State your business here!" the knight to his right demanded.
