Chapter 5: Misconceptions

The sun shined through my tired eyelids as I got up from my peaceful sleep. I started to lift myself from the bed. My body had other plans as I involuntarily plopped myself back onto the mattress. I signed; maybe checking my phone would awaken my physical being. I grabbed my charging phone off of my nightstand, unplugging it, and saw I had a new message. Sadly, it was from Eleanor and not from a certain Irish boy.

*Get your butt up and answer my message! Movies today with the group? We're gonna go watch Paranormal Activuity 5. I'll text you the details when you're awake.*

Not only did the message get me out of bed but also energized. I replied,

*I'm up El. What do you want* I mentally laughed, knowing she would unleash her sass on me soon. DING! I read her message:

*OH HAHAHAH, YOU'RE FUNNY. You'll pay for that troll. Get ready we're leaving at 3, movie starts at 3:15. Niall is coming too, so you're welcome. Ttyl ;)*

Gah, that girl. It was exactly 11:15 a.m. leaving me 4 hours to eat, shower, and get ready for another spectacular day.

I stepped down the stairs into the kitchen and gathered up a bowl of cereal and milk and sat down in front of the living room TV. I watched a short bit of cartoons before placing my finished bowl in the sink and stalking up the stairs back into my room. I looked at the time again, it was 1:30p.m. Perfect as I steamed up my bathroom and stepped into the tub brushing off the dirt from my body through the running water.

I finished my cleansing and wrapped a towel around my freshly relaxed body and drenched hair. I went into my closet and locked eyes with my desired outfit. My black cardigan with a floral shirt under with dark skinny jeans. I quickly slid them both on and unraveled the misty towel from my damp hair. I plugged in my blow dryer and tousled my air a little and added few curls into my brown locks. I dapped a few coats of mascara onto my lingering eyelashes. My cheeks grew a rosy pink as I brushed a light shade onto my cheeks. My red TOMS me perfectly. I looked at the time one last time, it read 2:50. I tucked my phone into my pocket. I began to fall down the stairs and out the door towards the theaters only a few blocks down.

The theater wasn't completely overloaded today. I looked around trying to spy the others but came up short. I checked my phone, 3:05 p.m. I decided to send El a short message asking where she was. After sending it, I looked up to see a head of blonde hair walking towards me.

"Hello Eve. You're looking dainty as usual. Have you seen the others?" Niall asked.

Just at that moment my phone vibrated in my hand with a new incoming message from El: *You're probably wondering why we're not there yet... Thought you and the leprechaun needed some alone time. Have fun love. ;) p.s next time don't laugh at the queen.*

I looked up to Niall's confused face, "Looks like the others canceled last minute, guess its just gonna be you and I tonight" I said.

His face lit up, "I don't mind sharing my day with you and just you at all love."

We went to go but our tickets and walked in together into the concession stand. We both decided to share an extra large popcorn, two sodas, and three bags of assorted goodies. We walked into our arranged theater and climbed to the middle row in the center seats. To be honest horror movies wasn't my strong point in fearlessness, I doubted Niall would mind or that this movie was going to be that terrifying.

Boy was I wrong. Demons and ghosts filled the screen as innocent children ran and screamed in fear. I no longer had cravings for food, I was scrunched up into a ball on my seat aching for some relief from the terror I was experiencing. Niall seeing my pain wrapped his arms around my fragile body and engulfed my chest into his. In almost an instant, my body's anxiety melted out of my body. I felt so safe and protected. During the entire movie I randomly transitioned myself from the seat to Niall biceps whenever I was in need of some reassurance. In one scene of the movie, a demon beast popped on the screen abruptly causing me to whimper softly into Niall's chest. He pulled me closer and placed his gentle hand on the small of my back slowly rubbing small circles. He whispered "I'm here Eve. Don't be afraid love, you're safe" smoothly into my ear. I smirked as I stayed in his arms for the remainder of the movie.

The lights beamed the audience softly signaling the end of the film. Niall and I got up and started walking to the exit. He walked closely behind me in assurance he was there for me. We were now standing in front of the theater back where we started. I tried to looked at the time but the screen of my cellphone wouldn't light up. -Great- I thought.

"Hey Eve, you still terrified?" Niall asked.

I blushed, "yes to be honest" I confessed.

"it's okay love, I'll take you home. I want to.be able to know you're safe in bed" he added.

"Thanks Ni. You're the best" I answered as I took his hand in mine leading him down the road to my home.

We walked in silence for a while until hr started poking at my sides causing me to laugh uncontrollably. A war broke out as we started to run down the concrete jabbing each other. We ended up on the doorstop. In a final attempt for revenge Niall tackled my sides. Suddenly I felt myself flailing farther back from my lost of balance. Niall grabbed my arms bringing them to his saving me from the cold hard ground. I was still in his arms, we just stared at each other for a few seconds until we turned our heads to the open door where my parents were standing.

My father spoke first "Genevieve April Delacy. Where have you been? We've been calling you for hours!"

My Mom was next but a different topic was on her mind as she stared at the both of us, "Wait a minute, who is this? Is he your boyfriend. Oh my god, he's cute."

Niall was frozen, I couldn't make out if his facial expression was from complete shock or shyness from my mom's comment on us. He stayed quiet forcing me to speak for the both of us. I mentally face palmed myself.

"Sorry guys, my phone died. This is Niall, he's new to school. C'mon Niall, lets go upstairs to my room" I responded desperately wanting to escape my parents.

As we walked upstairs to my bedroom my Dad shouted "leave the door open. I don't want any funny business going on."

I groaned as my mom decided to join in with the boyfriend banter as she asserted "I like your boyfriend Genevieve! Nice to meet my future in laws early."

We got to my room and I quickly shut the door closing off my parent's protective boundaries. Niall was already checking out my photo frames and dressing counter taking in his surroundings and making mental observations. He then went to my desk flipping through my notebooks.

"I see you like to write love. What else do you like to do for hobbies?" Niall asked.

I responded, "I love to write, act, and occasionally sing. I plan to try out for the X factor this summer"

He grinned, "My interests are acting, soccer, and writing. I'm not very good though. I would love to hear your beautiful singing voice love."

"I'd love to hear one of your poems Ni." I said as a smile grew on his face.

"it's getting late" he started, "I should be getting home. "

"I'll walk you out" I stated as I took a hold of his hand leading him down the stairs and back on my doorstop. We were now face to face in the front of the house with the sun slowly setting down into the sky behind us. We went into a goodbye hug and lingered in each others arms longer than usual, when we finally departed from each others arms Niall gave me a soft but sweet kiss on my forehead signaling his goodbye as he ran down the vacant again towards the direction of his home.

I went upstairs once last time for the day to my now empty room and slunk myself into the bathroom. I ran the warm water through my hair smoothing my curls into its natural state. I got out of the shower slightly drying off my hair. As I finished I swifty changed into my loose pink shirt and navy pajama bottoms. I hopped into bed wrapping the covers over my exhausted body. My hyperactive mind was now in nirvana as I drifted into my peaceful sleep completely content.
