Chapter #7: May may be a problem

I woke up this morning to the thought that today would be great, but something in my gut told me otherwise. As usual I got out of bed and prepared myself for the teenagers everyday life, high school. I quickly showered, changed, and applied light makeup as I went downstairs to have a small snack before heading off to school. I took a granola bar from the cabinet. I went back up the stairs and retrieved my red backpack before running back down the stairs and out the door towards school. Luckily the walk to school wasn't long, I arrived 5 minutes before class started giving me enough time to leisurely get to class on time.

I walked into my first period classroom sitting down in my seat. Eleanor also walked into the room and placed herself next to my desk as usual. Class started up along with the recital of the pledge of allegiance. Next came the morning video announcements on the TV.

I carelessly ignore the announcements until I heard something that made me want to fall out of my chair "Congratulations to Genevieve Delacy and Niall Horan for successfully earning the lead roles in this years musical Aladdin! We all look forward to watching your performance. Rehearsals begin today after school."

I couldn't believe it. I actually landed the part? Am I being punk'd? Ashton Kutcher get your ass out here! Nope, this was real.. Niall and I were co starring together in a musical with a duet and acting. I have to pinch myself. "OUCH" I said a little too loudly. Okay I believe you Genevieve.

Eleanor looked at me weirdly before giving me a hug. Guess she saw me pinch myself, oops. "Congrats Eve! Guess you'll be spending more time with Niall now right?" She whispered into my ear. She winked at me and placed her attention back to the class.

I couldn't concentrate throughout the whole day as the classes flew by me like wind. It took all of my willpower to even look like I was paying attention to the teachers.

Finally the end of the day came along with our first rehearsals and I was ecstatic. Until my memory popped with a certain reminder.

Flashback: "Eleanor Calder, Dawn Piplup and May Everett, you are costume crew this year." The girl who I guess was named May, went up to Niall and said

"You did a good job." and gave him a peck on the cheek.

-Great way to screw up your own day Genevieve- I thought to myself as I walked to the auditorium. Everyone was already there. I walked down the aisle way until a girl dragged me by the hand backstage at an alarming speed.

"May! Are you getting Genevieve ready?" Eleanor called.

"Yeah! I got her here right now. Five minutes tops" she shouted back to her. She was quickly measuring my wingspan and height. She then sat me down in a chair and turned around gathering some items. She brushed on a few coats of mascara on me and dashed some powder on my cheeks. She took my hair and brushed it to the side.

So this was May. She was about 5' 3" with long wavy blonde hair about halfway down her back. She had hazel eyes with long eyelashes, her skin was clear. Her nude pink lips matched with her light skin time. On the outside she was perfection in the eyes. -Was her personality too?- I thought to myself.

"So, *cough* May how are you today?" I asked her.

She smiled at me, "I'm great! a little busy here and there but its all fine. Thanks for asking love!"

Eleanor interrupted our conversation informing us that u was needed on stage immediately.

"I got it El! Hold on. Finishing touches" May yelled. She let me get up and took a final look at me. "You're really pretty Genevieve, I'm staring at precision right about now." She took my hand again and pulled me towards the stage next to Niall.

-Wow. She's beautiful. She's nice. She's perfect.- I thought. My head drooped towards my feet feeling underrated next to May.

Niall noticed my mood and placed one finger under my chin raising my head and attention. "I don't know what's wrong but all I know is I don't like seeing you sad. If May said something mean, I'm sure it was an accident. She's actually very sweet." Niall said to me releasing his grip on my jaw.

I nodded turning to the teacher. -That's the problem.. She's amazingly ideal. Not for anyone in particular but you- deep in thought.

Rehearsals dragged on for two hours. I watched Niall master his lines and cues. I couldn't concentrate as well as him. Mrs. Evans announced rehearsals were over for the day and would resume tomorrow.

I went backstage to grab my bags and walk home. I started to walk off the stage. Niall caught up to me stopping me in my tracks, "Hey Eve, hold on. Let me grab my stuff and we can go."

May also came by, "You both were great out there. If anyone needs help with lines I'm available."

Niall answered for the both of us surprisingly, "That sounds nice but I think we got it. We have each other for that also."

I decided to step into the conversation, "No it's okay Ni. You can go spend some alone time with May."

Niall looked at me with confusion, he was about to say something when someone walked into the room we were in. It was a guy, he was tall with black hair and soft brown eyes. He walked over to our little group next to May giving her a quick peck on the cheek. Now I was confused.

"Niall, Genevieve, this is Daniel my boyfriend. Sorry I forgot to introduce you guys." May said.

"Nice to met you both. I'm Daniel," he said.

"Same to you." Niall and I said in unison.

"Well Daniel and I have to go but see you guys tomorrow for another rehearsal. Bye." May said as she walked with Daniel out the door hand in hand.

"We should get going too Eve." Niall said taking his bags and mine putting them on his shoulder. "C'mon love"

We walked out side by side towards the road to my house.Within ten minute we were on my doorstep. He placed his bags down and wrapped his arms around we signaling his goodbye. I was still engulfed in his not letting go, I heard him start to whisper in my ear.

"Did you really think May and I were in a relationship?" He asked.

I started to blush but still sustaining my cool, "No, of course not not Ni. I was totally joking!" Thank god he couldn't see my face right now.

"Hmm, whatever you say Eve." He responded. I could literally feel his grin on my shoulder. He swiftly got out of our embrace and kissed my forehead before lifting his backpack back onto his shoulder. He started to jog down the road again proceeding to his house.

I signed. Exhausted physically and mentally I took my bags upstairs and dropped my body onto the bed. I couldn't stop thinking to myself; -Did I really have jealousy towards a girl I didn't even know because she kissed Niall? Was I really willing to let him walk away from me to be with her?- These nagging thoughts were complicating with my feelings towards him.

I decided to get off my bed and actually change into my pjs and brush my teeth. After, even more tired I dropped back on my bed and tucked myself in. "Love is overrated anyways" I said drifting into sleep.
