Before You Read! [IMPORTANT]

Hey. I am only recently writing this part now that two-month-old Daisy, First Spring (this book) has over eight thousand reads. I am very grateful that this work, which was only supposed to be 'just for fun', came to be loved by other readers out there, who leave me votes, awesome comments that make me laugh and tear up, sweet messages about how they loved this story filling me with butterflies and pride. Thank you so much! For those who take effort in letting me know that they enjoyed the story and even more so loved the main character, whom we will be calling 'Daisy' for the rest of this preface to avoid spilling out spoilers. Before you read, I want to say a few significant words about issues regarding this story to clarify some points of question.

THIS IS A HIGHLY IMPORTANT, SENSITIVE NOTE.

I have begun to notice that some readers who come across this story immediately notice the large age gap between Levi and Daisy- and I'm glad. Really. I made it a point to create a dynamic between an old soul and a young spirit. I wanted to tell a story about two people genuinely learning from each other. And I had been very careful with considering their ages relative to the interwoven plot between another original character of mine (which you will meet too soon as you read), and the characters of Attack on Titan. Daisy, (in order for this story to follow the intended plot and a structure canon to the manga and anime) belongs to the age group of the 'present generation' characters, which are Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Sasha, Connie, Jean, Bertholdt, Reiner, Annie, and so on. Daisy is only slightly older than them. In fact, Daisy is 18 by the time the story really begins.

Which means that Daisy is legally an adult, both in our standards in real life and the standards of the Attack on Titan setting. I already emphasized it in the Author's Note, and I hope you read it, that this story will be based upon the foundations of reality present in Attack on Titan. That includes their laws and moral codes- though I took it to great lengths to make sure that none of my portrayals will be questionable for our standards.

The international age of consent in real life is 18. The age of consent in Attack on Titan seems to be around 12-15. So, not only is Daisy physically, mentally and emotionally mature enough to be involved in a romantic relationship with a fellow adult, but she is also mature enough in legal terms.

In addition, Levi and Daisy might have met and interacted when she was still underage, but under no circumstances did I imply that these two had an instant infatuation. In fact, they barely knew each other to form sound opinions of each other. They only really got to know each other and develop feelings for each other after Daisy becomes a complete adult.

I have consulted several educated people on the distant age gap thing, and not one of them told me that this was in any way implying pedophilia... If you are uncomfortable with stories of couples who have distant age gaps, I suggest you either drop this book or continue so to challenge your thoughts. I dread that I have to begin the story with this, but I recognize that this is an important element that I must smooth out in order for you guys to really enjoy the story at its truest colors.
