"They're coming, they're coming!"

"There they are!"

"Look how awesome they are!"

"Pah! They're airheads who risk their lives for nothing."

"Worthless freeloaders."

Bertholdt and I observed closely as we stood in our cadet uniforms among the crowd, gathered around the gates of Trost, watching the arrival of the Scout Regiment. Lead by my uncle, of course.

There were mixed remarks about them, but I knew in my heart they were the better pack of humanity; for they all believed in its cause. I was revolted and shocked the first time I heard about the locals' negative opinions about my uncle's famed regiment, but as time passed by I grew to ignore them. What mattered most to me was that the Scouts knew that they were still believed in, even if the faith was just from the minority.

I saw my uncle approaching in his white horse, in the distance, leading the whole brigade; the same grave countenance in his face. I missed him so much, I wanted to run there and hug him. I managed to behave myself where I stood, tiptoeing over the heads of the villagers.

"Do you think we can see Captain Levi from here?" A tiny voice asked from my side, catching my attention. I looked down to my right to see two little boys (they looked ten) talking to each other by the cobblestone sidewalk.

"I'm not sure... But maybe we can see Commander Erwin. They say he's extremely tall and mighty. We can't miss him." The blonde one said.

"You two really like the those two heroes?" I asked them, a bright smile on my face.

"Yes, miss!" They chorused excitedly at me.

"Captain Levi was said to be braver and stronger than one thousand soldiers." The little brown-haired boy, missing a tooth at the front, pointed out.

"And Commander Erwin is the smartest, most brilliant leader the Scouts have ever had!" The blonde one cheered, holding out his two tiny hands.

"Hmm... They should see you two. It will give them a great kick, seeing that you guys believe in them both." I told them, crouching a little, my hands on my knees. "So when they go back to battle, they'll think of you."

"You really think so, miss?" The brown-haired boy asked, the childish elation glinting in his eyes. I giggled and nodded.

"You see that tall man over there?" I told them, looking back over my shoulder to Bertholdt, who was looking far onto the direction of the brigade.

"Whoa. He's so tall, I bet he could see perfectly up there." The blonde one answered.

"Well, luckily, he's my boyfriend; and I'm going to ask him to give you guys a lift, okay?" I told them, standing back up straight. Their eyes glinted in excitement, almost jumping to their feet.

"Waah!" They chorused, looking at each other in excitement. I turned back to Bertholdt quickly, him perceiving my approach.

"I take it you've made friends of the local children?" He said, smiling.

Something about his smile today was off. They were always very wholesome, but today, they were rather forced. I shook the idea off of my head since there was a different matter of urgency. I smiled back at him.

"They want to see my uncle, and Levi. Can you perhaps carry them?" I requested. He jerked his head back and blinked twice.

"Well, sure. But I might block your view if I carry both." He answered.
