[Celine]
"Like dandelion chutes flying to the sky," I sang softly, as I rode Finn out onto the thin forest just a distance away from the castle, "I'll see my words in the shade of blue,"
The sunlight crept through the openings in the trees, with the gentle sound of fallen leaves and twigs crushing under Finn's footsteps. "And as the seasons pass, the years go by;"
As I sung, I thought I heard another set of footsteps creeping nearby. "They'll pass the message from me to you."
Finn neighed happily, making me giggle softly as I pet his mane. "You like that song, boy?"
He snorted again, trotting excitedly. I laughed, shaking my head. "I guess it is a favorite of yours."
I still heard the extra footsteps, and so I pulled my horse to a stop to look around behind me, furrowing my eyebrows in cautious confusion. "Hold on, Finn. Do you hear that?"
I scanned the area, with my horse stepping forward and backward, and finally settling down. I swept my gaze through the tree trunks and the bushes. "I think someone is following us."
I heard something rustle, and suddenly, a small rabbit hopped from one of the nearby bushes. It startled Finn, as he neighed in fright, jumping on his two front legs. "Whoa boy! It's just a cute little bunny! Down, now."
He stood back down, stepping around to watch where the little animal went. I still looked around the place, and saw a black tail quickly swoop through the distance. I smiled to myself, knowing exactly who it was.
"Whoever you are, you can come out now." I called out. "I'm unarmed. Take whatever you want from me and leave me in peace."
"That's a stupid way to call out to stalkers." Levi answered, emerging from the thickness of the woods on his horse. He approached, but stopped in just a distance of three meters away from me.
"Only because I knew it was you, sir." I replied. "Why were you stalking me, anyway?"
"I cannot be too sure." He answered, walking his horse towards the direction I was taking, passing by me. "Erwin will kill me if something happens to you under my supervision."
"So is that all that I am?" I replied, following him shortly with Finn. "A liability? A responsibility?"
"Wasn't that the deal?" He countered, not even glancing back at me. I just looked towards the dirt path, shaking my head.
"I don't know, maybe I just thought I did belong here, in your squad." I answered silently.
He seemed to shift at my words, but he proceeded. "I don't take rebels in."
"I see. You speak as if you weren't one." I mumbled to myself, rolling my eyes.
"What's that?" He asked sternly, making me sit abruptly on my saddle.
"Nothing, sir." I replied, and I kept the silence between the two of us, as he rode there, just a short distance in front of me.
I couldn't believe he had managed to destroy my personal peace yet again.
"How is Atticus?" I asked, looking at the horse's bandaged leg. "I take it he's recovered quickly?"
"It's sturdy. It's quite old, but it puts up. It dealt with far worse injuries before." Levi replied.
"A simple thank you or a good job would suffice." I mumbled again.
"Stop mumbling, it's irritating me." He said.
