A/N: ugh is it normal to get the butterflies over your own writing? Damn that's really weird. Anyways, this is an important chapter, so make sure to read from start to finish. Thanks for all the votes! Enjoy~

When my eyes fluttered open, a slow breathing greeted my cheek, enclosing me in a soothing warmth. As the light from the windows in front of my seat met my eyes, I perceived that I was still in the library, laying my head on Levi's shoulder. The thought came to me where I had been sleeping all that while, but I didn't feel embarrassed or nervous. I somehow felt... Secure, and comfortable. There was no place else that made me feel quite as at ease as being next to him. And how absolutely strange it dawned onto me to feel that way.
He didn't perceive I was awake, as I did not move an inch. I could feel his jaw resting on my head, and when I looked down, his veined fingers laid idly next to my soft ones on his leg. His pinky was twined with mine, making me smile softly.
It felt like he was asleep, for his breathing was steady. I could hear his heartbeats from where my ear was placed, his tranquil pulse slow and comforting. It felt like I wanted to be there forever and never move again.
I began to wonder if he felt the same way.
Absentmindedly, I nestled deeper onto his chest, pressing my cheek against it. He felt it and shifted, but he didn't move another inch. So he was awake, too. He'd been awake all this time, keeping me resting in silent serenity. He didn't bother me, he didn't wake me up. He stayed still to let me rest, for as long as I needed.
When has the Captain ever been so comfortable with this kind of closeness?
After a few moments, he spoke.
"Kid? Are you awake?" He asked softly, his deep voice vibrating under my ear.
"I am now.." I replied softly, in the middle of a yawn.
"Don't get too comfortable." He said. "I was a decision away from leaving you alone and your drooling."
"I don't drool." I replied, my voice still soft. "And if you wanted to go so much then why don't you now? I'm awake."
"You're still on my shoulder." He said.
"That's what's stopping you?" I asked, smiling to myself.
"Tch." He replied with his ever-present frown, still not moving.
I kept the silence lingering on for a while, and looked to my hands. "Thank you, sir."
"For not letting you hit your head on the bench?" He asked.
"Yep, exactly that." I answered. Hesitantly, I raised my head away from the solace of his chest, and adjusted myself back into reality again. "I have to go meet my uncle... He might have the files I need now."
I took a moment to look at his face, an excruciatingly short distance away from mine. How his gray eyes alighted ever so delicately onto my youthful presence, how his face loosened from the monotone frown it bore for what seemed like permanence; and for a moment I pondered upon the possibility that his peacefulness might have been because of me.
He was silent. As if waiting for me to do something about that sheer proximity between the two of us. I extended my patience for the same reason, my eyes flickering around his face.
But what exactly did I want him to do about this distance between us? Close it or lengthen it?
The latter choice was easier. But the former choice was what I found I wanted.
