Broken Smiler was smiling, yet emotionless. Something was up.
Friend asked, Did a demon force you to play truth or dare and now you have a weird Snapchat filter on your mouth?"
Broken Smiler was still smiling, albeit creepy.
Friend then asked, "is a family brimming with positive discrimination trying to transplant an old white guy's brain into yours since they're too stupid to realize you had to work hard to get your body?"
Broken Smiler shook their head and a tear dropped down their eyes. But just a tear, and nothing more.
Friend realized what was going on. Oh. Right. You've been through so much, your body doesn't make you cry as much as much as you want it to, right?"
Broken Smiler nods without saying a word.
Friend goes to hug them. "Can I stay with you? At least until you let me know you're okay?"
They pull him in closer and after the two go to sit and rest, he stays with them for a while. The comfort eased some of the pain their body wouldn't let them express until they slowly felt their humanity return.
