chapter 31

Everyone left the room, except me, obviously. I was sleeping on the couch next to his bed. Amy, John, Addi and Bryce were in rooms they were in past few days. Everyone else went home, but they'll be coming again in the morning.
"I'm so happy you're back here with me." I said as I was sitting at the end of his bed holding his hand and caressing his cheek.

I grabbed the water bottle, pouring a bit of it on my hand and then wiping it across his mouth.
"Yes, I needed this." He said as he licked his lips, "Gimme moree." He whined like a little baby, wanting me to pour water in his mouth.
"I can't, doctor said that I don't need to give you water, just a bit on your lips and that's all."
"Please." He made his best puppy eyes as he pouted. How could I say no to that?
He smirked as poured just a tiny bit of water in his mouth.
"Thank you princess."

By now, he was mostly normally talking, not much of stuttering.
"You wanna tell me about what happened when you were in coma?"
"Gimme that." He pointed to banana Amy earlier left, with rest of some fruits to eat. It's been really hard for all of us, but she still managed to feed us every day, even though I never ate.
"You can't eat, doct-"
"You are eating it."
"Wh-"
"Lexi, first of all, I saw you not eating anything. It's been 10 days. And Josie told me you were not eating past few days, before all of this even happened."
"Wha-"
"She told me everything, don't act like it's not true. You are not fat, nor you got fat when you started eating. It's still the same old you, a beautiful girl with beautiful heart and body. Okay? You can't starve yourself cuz you think I'll leave you if you get fat. I would never do that. I fell too deep in love with you, and I don't care if you have 300 pounds or 70, you'll always be so beautiful to me. Okay?" He explained in soft tone, but letting me know he was completely serious, as few tears left my eyes.

"Now give me that banana. I'm gonna feed you since you can't do it yourself."
"Jaden it's too late now-"
"I might have just woke up from death, but that doesn't mean I'm a baby and you are dominant one. Give me that banana or I'll grab it myself." He said in demanding tone. Woah, chill daddy. I missed that so much. His sexy voice when he acts like boss. And the look in his eyes. Ugh.
I handed him the banana, knowing he won't be able to open it by himself.
"Wait, help me open it." I did what he said, not wanting to stress him or annoy him more.
"C'mon." He said putting the banana in front of my mouth for me to take a bite.
"If you even try to vomit it out when I'm not looking, Lexi, it won't finish good. Understood?" I just nodded in response.

Once I finished the banana, he placed the banana peel on the table next to his bed.
"Good girl."
"Um, so, what did you mean by 'Josie told you'?"
"I was with her. This whole time I was here, walking around the building, like a ghost. I was talking to you trying to get your attention but it didn't seem to work. And today she just appeared, out of nowhere. So we talked and I got to hear her calling me munchkin." He said as tear slipped out of his eye, "Goddammit I hated when she would call me that, especially in front of people." He almost whispered as he shook his head before continuing, "And she told me to come back here and helped me to do it. And before I moved my finger I heard her say 'I love you' and it just faded away as my vision became black and I got back here."
"Oh baby." I played with his hair, trying to comfort him, because I can't hug him.
He definitely sounds crazy right now, but we'll never know if that actually happened, so I won't judge him.
"I-I got to see her. That's why I said I'm glad I got shot. I'm sorry that I caused you a lot of pain. I-I didn't me-an to."
"It's okay Jaden, I'm so happy that you are here now. I just hope you won't do it again."
