"you'd better go and fix things with him."miyoung says in a scolding tone, as her and alex walk out of the school campus. alex huffs out a sigh of exhaustion, stopping in her tracks and turning to miyoung.
"ugh, i'm really not in the mood to deal with boys again today."
miyoung shrugs, putting on a smug smile.
"at least you have boy problems."
alex frowns at her stepsister, pushing her shoulder lightly.
"idiot. you're acting like boy problems are some sort of necessity to live."
miyoung laughs at that, pushing alex back playfully as the two half-related sisters share a laugh with one another.
"anyway, i got a lot more to do today at the club so i better get going now. make sure to call me, alright?"
miyoung places her hand on alex's shoulder, patting it gently. alex nods, smiling in response. miyoung sends her a smile back, finally turning on her heel. her long silky hair spins around with her as she begins walking the opposite way, the sound of her heels clicking on the ground fading.
alex smiles to herself again, feeling grateful for her stepsister who always steps in whenever she needs someone the most.
she always looked up to her. her tall, drop-dead gorgeous half sister, who's warm-hearted, and wise. alex wanted nothing to but to be like her.
after standing in her place for a few moments, alex decides to start heading home since she had nothing much planned for the rest of the day. the library didn't need her at work today, so she had the rest of the day to rest.
however, before she could even begin walking, she hears a familiar voice yelling her name from afar.
"aleeeeeex!" she turns around to face yuri who's walking towards her, waving her hand enthusiastically with a huge smile spread across her face.
beside her was...jungkook.
surprisingly, he was smiling too."hey, guys." alex greets her two friends once they had caught up to her. however, she was a bit uncertain with jungkook around.
was he already over her? why was he smiling so brightly as if nothing happened? is he faking his smile for me?
"why didn't you call me? i didn't know you were going out after classes today." yuri says in a whiny voice, making alex cringe.
"ew, don't talk like that. and i actually came out to meet my stepsister, but she left a few minutes ago." alex explains, and yuri keeps her pout, but nods.
alex immediately looks over to jungkook, who's eyes were wandering off to the side, his hands stuffed into his football jacket.
"kook." alex calls out to him, and he flinches slightly, jumping out of his trance. "oh? uh sorry, i was kinda spacing out."
alex waves him off. "no, i wanted to ask if you were..."
alex suddenly bites her lip, becoming slightly nervous while she speaks. she wanted to know if he was okay, but asking in front of yuri made it awkward. but, she decides to ask anyways.
"...if you were okay? since...last night." alex spoke slowly, rubbing her nape anxiously, while avoiding his gaze.
it becomes silent for a moment, and you can tell that yuri was nudging his arm to get him to talk.
"i'm feeling..."
alex finally begins to look up, as the boy begins to respond after a few awkward seconds.
