AUGUST 2009.
feeling peaceful with the quiet atmosphere in her bedroom, alex finishes the last sentence of her book report, letting out a relieved sigh.
"all done." she murmurs to herself, shutting her notebook close. alex stuffs her notebook in her backpack, and stands up from her seat to head outside of her room.
when she opens her door, her dad was standing before her, about to enter her room. alex blinks, "dad?"
"oh, sorry honey. i was about to talk to you about something, are you heading somewhere?" he asks, and alex shakes her head. "no where important. what did you want to talk about?"
alex's dad, smiles slightly at her, motioning the inside of her room with his hand. "in here."
alex shrugs, walking over to her bed, her dad sitting in front of her desk.
"so," her father starts, "about your friend, mi-"
"min yoongi?" alex pipes, a smile growing on her lips.
her dad sighs, "yes, that boy..." alex tilts her head, "what about him?"
internally, her father felt some sympathy for the young girl. she doesn't have many friends, and ever since she started to spend time with yoongi, she had become more cheerful and happy.
but he has to do what he has to do, right?
her father hesitates to speaks, the words he had been meaning to say struggling to roll off his tongue. alex raises an eyebrow, "are you okay, dad?"
'i can't do it.' her father tells himself internally. he plasters a fake smile, standing up.
"it was nothing, dear. just keep being friends with him, okay?" he says, and alex frowns, but lets out a chuckle. "of course i will."

yoongi and his mother were having a quiet dinner at the table, eating their food in silence. his mother's mind was going crazy, finding the right words to say to her son.
he seemed at ease, as he slurped up the spicy noodles his mother cooked for him.
"yoongi," his mother calls his name softly, and he looks up at her, noodles still in his mouth.
"yes, mother?"
she places her fork down beside her bowl, folding her hands in front of her.
"i see you've been getting close with that girl." she begins, and yoongi swallows his food. "what about her?" he replies calmly.
"it's nice know you are able to teach someone," she clears her throat, adjusting her glasses.
"but i don't want you near her anymore."
yoongi pauses whatever he was doing, dropping his fork. his eyes darken as he looks at his mother with a complete change of mood.
"she's not-"
"what did you just say?"
his mother blinks, "what's with the sudden change of your tone, sweetheart?" yoongi doesn't look at her. she shoots him a smile, "i'm just looking out for you."
he shakes his head, "no, you aren't." he mutters under his breath.
yoongi's bangs cover his eyes as he looks down at his lap. when he gets mad, he looks down and avoids eye contact with the person he's mad at.
if he keeps making eye contact, he may snap.
"she's a waste of time," his mother bluntly speaks. "you don't even have time to focus on yourself because of her."
yoongi's fists clench at his mother's careless words, biting his lip as he controls his temper.
"she's the only thing keeping you from becoming better. besides, she's not a good influence on you nor is she even pretty." her expression was plastered with disgust as she scrunches up her nose.
yoongi couldn't have it anymore.
how dare she say those words so carelessly like it wouldn't affect anyone? yoongi may not have cared, but he does. he just does. why? because he cares about alex.
yoongi stands up, pushing his chair back so hard that it falls down. yoongi runs a hand through his hair, huffing out a breath.
"you know what?" he shoots his mother a glare, and his mother is taken aback by the sudden look, because she had never seen it before.
"son-"
"i don't really enjoy hearing you speak like that about alex."
his mother frowns, standing up as well, "min yoong-"
"i don't wanna hear anything else, mother. i just-" he chuckles bitterly. "it just hurts to see that my mother doesn't like to see me happy."
after saying those words, he stormed off to his bedroom, slamming his door. meanwhile, his mother was left shocked, and mouth on the floor.

"what is it now, yoona?"
"did you tell her?"
"....did you?"
"i tried to tell him. but he became angry with me."
"oh..that's a shame."
"we need another plan."
"...another plan? why would we need another plan?"
"why wouldn't we?"
"well, it seems that they're both happy around one another. we should accept that, as parents."
"*scoff* are you serious, minho? are you crazy?"
"maybe you are, yoona. you're trying to take away you're son's happiness. he was never bright until he had met alex."
"don't you dare say that to me, minho. you don't know what i'm capable of."
"oh, and i don't? i've known you since we were children, yoona. you don't scare me."
"....alright then. your loss."
"what?"
"don't say i didn't warn you, minho."
"wait what? yoon-"
