OCTOBER 2018.
"am i dreaming?" yoongi thought.
his eyes widened, finally recognizing alex's presence. he couldn't believe it, he never thought he'd see her again.
his first love.
"gemstone," yoongi practically breathes out, a smile spreading across his face. "i saw you across the street; i couldn't believe it was you."
"m-me neither." he stammers, still at a lost for words. she grins, playing with her fingers shyly.
"i don't really know what to say, i mean, when was the last time we saw each other?" she meets his eyes again.
"hm," he hums, "2009?"
her mouth falls open, her eyebrows raising. "wow, it's been nine years!" yoongi nods, as she laughs in shock.
"it really has been a long time, yeon-kimin."
yoongi could feel butterflies in his stomach at the nickname, the nickname that had made him so attached to her back then.
"you've grown up," alex gives him a look, and yoongi becomes slightly gets flustered. "you've grown up too," he smiles.
he couldn't lie, alex was stunning. as a child, and as a woman.
alex couldn't lie either, "h
he slowly puts his hands in his pockets, "i'm really...happy to see you again." he admits honestly, a genuine smile playing on his lips.
it's been a while since he's smiled a real smile.
alex inhales, "well," she pauses, "i'm relieved to see you but..."
"i need answers."
her voice turns serious, as yoongi meets her changed expression. "what?" he mutters, confused.
"what made you decide to leave me alone that day?"
yoongi felt the bitterness and hurt in her voice, but she played it off cool. he immediately knew what she meant, as his mood began to drop at the memory.
the memory of him leaving alex that day in 2009, alone with no explanation.
"gemstone," he calls her name gently. "i couldn't explain to you then, and i'm sorry....i really am." he says sincerely.
she raises an eyebrow, "if you couldn't tell me then, could you tell me now?"
her voice was soft, but demanding.
yoongi sighs, "why don't we go ahead and grab a coffee, and settle this down?"
_
"here you go."
yoongi slides over to alex as he sits down on the seat in front of her, huffing out a breath.
"now, min yoongi....explain to me." she doesn't hesitate to immediately ask him for answers again, using his full name.
his heart slightly dropped hearing that she wasn't using his nickname, but he understood she was still angry about what happened back then.
he grips onto his coffee. "my mom," he pauses, "she made me move away."
alex frowns. yoongi meets her gaze, "because she didn't like the fact that we were so close to each other. i don't know if you knew about the whole thing between her and your father..."
alex blinks, her expression turning blank. she was taking in his words, contemplating whether he was lying or not.
but by the look in his eyes, he was being sincere.
