SEPTEMBER 2018.

"don't talk to me like that."

scoffing, yoongi rolls his eyes once again at his mother.

these days, he questioned himself as to why he even still lives with her. with every passing day, the more he was tempted to just move out. however, he didn't exactly have the money to buy a new place.

his mother sighs, "you know, we're not going to get anywhere like this if you keep getting irritated all the time."

yoongi chuckles bitterly, "is that my fault?" pausing, he turns more to his mother. "you constantly scream at me for technically existing and nag me when i tell you i need some time alone."

his mother's expression now turns into an angry one as yoongi steps closer to her, knowing that he put her on her spot.

"don't i have the right to confront you, mother?"

yoongi mocks the word mother, his eyes narrowing as he looks his mother dead in the eye. he could feel the steam coming out of her nose right about now.

groaning, she storms out of the living room, slamming the door to her bedroom when he gets there.

yoongi smirks to himself, pulling out his phone from his pocket and clicking on a contact. the phone rings three times before the person answered.

"hey dude, wanna go out for a smoke?"

~

"what a nuisance."

(play media)

hoseok says, exhaling the smoke from his lips.

the two boys were leaning on a brick wall in an alley no one knew about. at least, no one really came there.

yoongi lights his cigarette, then inhales the smoke before exhaling it.  "i gotta live with it," he says, looking down at the cigarette butt between his fingers.

"didn't you say you were gonna move out?" hoseok looks over at him. sighing, yoongi mutters, "i don't have the money."

"maybe," hoseok turns more to him, "you should get a job."

yoongi looks at hoseok with a glare, "do you think i'm an idiot?"

hoseok lets out a loud laugh, "maybe?" yoongi gives hoseok a blank expression before giving him a punch in the shoulder.

hoseok yelps in pain but continues to laugh after, yoongi looking away from him with crossed arms.

"you're really annoying, you know that?" yoongi blusters, exhaling the smoke.

hoseok laughs once more before glancing around and back at yoongi.

a silence was spread between the two as yoongi begins to go on his phone. hoseok sighs, sitting against the brick wall.

"let's talk about something deep."

yoongi frowns, looking down at a sulking hoseok. he had no idea if he was, but he just looked like it;  shoulders slumped and all that.

"why the hell would we do that?"

hoseok shrugged, gazing ahead. "what else would we say?"

yoongi blinks for a moment, before joining hoseok in sitting against the brick wall as a way of somewhat agreeing to his idea.

hoseok looks down at yoongi's cigarette butt between his fingers.

"do you..." hoseok trails off, stopping himself.  "do you think we should still be smoking?"

yoongi scoffs, "that's what you wanted to talk about?"

"i'm just saying."

hoseok looks down at his own cigarette, fiddling with it. he should have thrown it away earlier but for some reason he kept it.

"i mean," yoongi speaks up, making hoseok glance up at him.

"we were told not to do it back when we were in school," yoongi chuckles softly, "and yet here we are."

"we just have problems," hoseok says, making yoongi frown. "we have these stupid problems that...that we don't even know how to fix."

hoseok lets out a shaky breath, looking into the distance with a pained look on his face.

"we use coping mechanisms." hoseok holds up the cigarette butt between his fingers.

"we chose this as our coping mechanism, and that is why," hoseok pauses, flopping his hand back down on his lap.

"we still do it."

yoongi's eyebrows raise as he looks over at the boy next to him. "wow, dude."

"you sure do have a lot on your mind, huh?"

hoseok shrugs, "it's nothing, we all do anyways."

hoseok uses the cigarette as a projectile as he throws it into the streets, as yoongi lights up another cigarette.

"want one?" yoongi asks, and hoseok chuckles.

"i think i've had enough for today."
