I looked at the time. 09:20. Great. Dad's late. As usual. I'm supposed to arrive at that stupid camp by 10:00. And it's an hour drive. I started pacing up and down the porch impatiently. Mom was always waiting for him. She looked pissed too but tried to hide it. "Don't worry, sweetie. You know your father will show up", Mom said trying to reassure me. "And what if he doesn't", I asked her. She pursed her lips and kept looking for the car to arrive. Dad has gotten predictable. I knew he'd do this. But I still asked him to take me. I only did that so I can spend time with him before I go to camp. I ran my fingers through my hair. That's until I saw a grey minivan coming. Why does he still have that thing. The car stopped in the driveway and he came out. Dad was tall and had salt and pepper hair. He wore glasses so he looked like a nerd. He had grey eyes that twinkled in the light. I got his eyes. That thought always makes me happy. He had an apologetic smile on his face. "Sorry champ. There was a lot of traffic", he told me. He must've seen the angry expression on my face. Then he looked at Mom. "Hello Tracy", he greeted her with a soft expression. Mom forced a smile. "Hello James", she said as she walked towards me and helped me with the bags. I don't understand why Mom always gets uncomfortable around Dad. She used to love this mam with all her heart. As soon as we got the bags in the car, Mom gave me a near hug. "I hope you have fun, sweetie". "Mom... you're squeezing the life out of me", I said wheezing. She let go of me and smiled. Dad looked around. "Where's Phoebe", he asked concerned. "She's alseep", she responded without meeting Dad's gaze. That little twerp gets to sleep during the day while I get whisked away to some camp. I don't like meting new people. Then I looked at my watch. "Dad, we're late remember", I said as I got in the minivan. "Bye Mom", I said as I waved goodbye to her. "Bye sweetie. Don't forget to write to me when you get there", she blew kisses at me. Write? Who still does that nowadays. Dad got in the minivan and buckled his seatbelt. "Ready kiddo", he asked looking at me. I nodded.
We arrive at the camp. I got to admit. The view was incredible. The lake twinkled. Even without the sun bding out. The trees were so green. Trees surrounded us. I hope there weren't any wild animals here. Dad parked the car near the entrance. It was hard to miss really. There were golden balloons and confetti everywhere. Fancy littering if you ask me. The sign was huge and golden. The words "Golden Arrow" were written in white. I quickly got out of the car and took my bags out. We had an awkward car ride. Dad kept on looking at the cars behind him as if someone was following him. I quickly kissed Dad on the cheek and ran to the registration table. The woman at the table was about to leave. "Wait", I shouted, scaring the woman. I stopped at the table panting. "I'm... here". The woman looked at me with such distaste. "You're late", she told me as if I didn't know that. "I know, I know. I'm sorry". I looked at the woman's name tag. Bridgette. She sat down again. "Name", she asked me as I kill puppies for a living. "Blaire Levesque". She scrolled through the papers. "Ah. Here you are. Blaire. You get to go to the wolf cabin", she looked at me then gave me a brochure. What? The Wolf Cabin? I took the brochure and my bags and went looking for Wolf Cabin. I didn't know we were set according to animals. How does that work anyway. I looked at the brochure for directions. I was so focused on it I didn't notice someone in front of me. I bumped into her. "Oops. I'm so sorry", I said trying to pick up my stuff. The girl turned and looked at me. She had jet black hair which was cut in a page boy cut, blue eyes and a nose piercing. She helped me with my bags. "It's fine. And you are", she asked. "Uhmm I'm Blaire". "Well Blaire, I'm Olivia. Which cabin do you belong to", she asked me with a smile on her face. What cabin was it again. "I belong to the wolf Cabin I think. But I'm lost". I regained all of my possessions. "Oh, I know where that is. Come on, I'll show you".
