new york city, nylast night was our first performance in the states, which was in albany to be exact, and man that was exhilarating. the crowd was insane, they were singing to all the songs and even dancing.
i'm pretty sure i saw someone twerking to 'be alright' which was funny.
currently, i am in the studio producing my three new singles that were going to be released very soon and then when i'm taking my breaks between legs i'll be filming the music videos for them, hopefully i finish filming before christmas because i want to spend that with my family.
juliana managed to get us this studio for the next two days thankfully, apparently there's a lot of people recording music right now so booking studios is difficult.
i had recorded stained glass which was an ode to cyrus and me recovering from the emotional trauma that he put me through, i just had two more left to record, i finally felt more comfortable saying his name or just thinking about it, but it still hurts sometimes.
i've accepted that he was apart of my life and that it was an extremely toxic relationship and if i could erase it, i would, but at the same time, i would thank him because without the experiences he put me through i would not have anything to sing about.
but stained glass wasn't exactly about cyrus, he's definitely involved but this song was something more than just him, for me at least, the song is about not judging people too harshly because you never know what they're going through.
at the end of the day, we're all small pieces of glass with mistakes and regrets of our past, and we ourselves constantly reminds us about those, the last thing we need is someone else talking about them.
now i was recording in the dark and as i sang it i was reminded of the time i wrote it, when i had first met shawn and how much he intrigued me.
"who are you when it's three am and you're all alone" i hummed, shutting my eyes softly and letting myself getting drunk on the music. "who are you in the dark?"
recording songs doesn't usually take long for me, i can get them done within the first three takes, which is something i proud of because it just means that the songs get done faster so it's less time in the studio, even thought i love being in here.
i pretty much consider this to be my second home.
"alright natalie take a break and we will continue in a couple minutes, yeah?" the producer, ryan says. i nod my head and walk out and just sit on the couch, practicing some scales because the next song i actually sing in a higher register.
after my first official date with shawn, when he gave me that nickname i realised how much i liked the sound of it so i decided to name that song after the nickname since this song is basically a dedication to shawn.
