I Do.. Again

So Jay and I just left my wedding.. together.
"I can't believe we're doing this." I confessed.
"Your not having second thoughts right?"
"Not at all. This is the best thing I've thing I've done all day. Except for my phone blowing up."
"Well if you answer someone, they will stop." I answered the next person who called me, it happened to be Kelly.
"Hello?" I said answering the phone.
"Sophia! Thank God." That wasn't Kelly.
"Scott what do you want?"
"Where are you?"
"I'm not telling you where I am. I made up my mind and I'm not coming back."
"Sophia please."
"Goodbye Scott." I said before hanging up the phone.
"What did he want?" Jay asked.
"He wants me to come back." I answered.
Jay laughed.
"He's an idiot if he thinks i'm coming back though."

(2 hours later)
Jay and I have been driving for a while and it was now dark out, in fact I doubt we're even in Chicago yet alone Illinois anymore. I was also still in this uncomfortable wedding dress.
"Mommy?" I heard Shays voice. Last time I checked she was sleeping and Ben was on his Ipad but I guess she wasn't sleeping anymore.
"Yeah, babe?" I asked.
"I'm hungry."
"So am I." Ben said piping up.
"We're on a highway I'm sorry guys I don't know what to tell you." I said looking at them in their car seats.
"There's an exit up here." Jay said pointing to a sign. "We can stop and get food." He added.
"Jay if you think I'm walking into a place where people are wearing this your out of your mind."
"Sophia, we can go through a drive through."
"Oh alright then."

We pulled through the drive through of McDonalds.
"Hi welcome to McDonalds what can I get you?"
"Two happy meals, two cheeseburgers, two large fries, and two large root beers." Jay answered.
"Is that all sir?"
"Yeah."
"Alright your total is $15.59, please pull up to the next window."
"Crap!" I exclaimed.
Jay sent me a worried look.
"Everything okay?"
"No, I don't have my wallet."
"I have mine its fine."
"Are you sure, I'm pretty sure I have a twenty in my phone case."
"Sophia, It's fine I'll pay."
I nodded.
We got up to the window and Jay handed the worker a twenty dollar bill while she handed him the food.
"Oh did you two just get married?" She asked.
"Something like that. I ran away from my wedding with him though." I answered.
"Well congrats." She handed Jay his change and we pulled into a parking spot.
"Here kids." I said handing them each food.

Once we finished eating we got back on the highway. I turned my phone back on to see at least a hundred missed calls and texts.
"I'm gonna call Kelly back." Jay nodded. After a couple rings he picked.
"Where are you?" He asked.
"Just passed the border of Wisconsin."
"Your in Wisconsin?" He asked basically yelling into the phone.
"That's what I just said."
He sighed.
"Are you at least okay?"
"I'm fine Kelly."
"Alright, then I'll call you in the morning. Goodnight love you."
"Love you too." I said before hanging up the phone.
"Hey, I'm gonna pull of the exit into Walmart and get clothes so we can get changed out of these clothes." I nodded.

Jay went in, while I stayed in his truck with Ben and Shay.
20 minutes later he came out with clothes.
He handed me a bra, sweatshirt, and sweatpants. He took Ben and Shay out of their car seats so I could change in the back.
"Be careful." He said when I crawled over his center console.
"Jay, my bare ass has been on this backseat before." I said with a laugh.
"I meant don't hit your head on the kids car seats but that works too I guess."
I quickly got changed and then changed Ben and Shay out of their clothes.
After Jay got changed I put my wedding dress on the floor of the back seat and we got back onto the highway.

10 minutes later we pulled into a hotel in Madison.
After putting Ben and Shay to bed, I sat down next to Jay.
"Today has been crazy." Jay said.
"Well I have an even crazier idea." I said resting my head on his shoulder.
"What is it?"
"Tomorrow morning, let's get eloped."
"What!"
"Is it really that crazy?"
"No, but our family and friends are gonna kill us."
"Let them. I love you and that's all that matters."
"Alright."
"You wanna do it?" I asked with a smile on my face.
He nodded.
"Alright then." I gave him a quick kiss before I crawled into the bed next to Ben and Shay.
"Mommy?" Ben asked.
"Shhh, go back to bed."
Jay got in after me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
He kissed me before we both fell asleep.

All of us got up pretty early, so that Jay and I could go to the courthouse.
It was a short drive but we waited in the waiting room until the judge called our names.
"What can I help you with?"
"We want to legally get married.. again."
"Okay, please sign these papers."
Both of us signed.
"So are either of you changing your last name?"
"Yes, I want to legally change my last name to Halstead." She nodded.
"Please sign here."
I did.
"By the power vested in me in the state of Wisconsin your both legally married. Congratulations." She said.
I smiled and Jay and I brought the kids out to the car.
"We never said I do." I said as I got into the passenger seat.
"Alright, well I do."
"I do too.. again." I said before giving him a kiss. I couldn't be happier that my last name was Halstead again.
