Boy or Girl?

(4 months later.)
I'm 7 months pregnant and Gabby, Sylvie, and Stella convinced me to throw a gender reveal.
"I don't understand why you want to do this so bad."
"Because you need to start thinking about names, and you need to get the nursery ready."
Gabby stated. We were in my bedroom getting ready.
"Our nursery is already done. We made it gender neutral."
"Gender neutral is boring." I turned towards the doorway and saw Stella in a blue shirt with jeans and Sylvie in a pink dress.
"Well the nursery isn't Disneyland."
"Fair point."
Gabby turned my attention back to her.
"So do you think it's going to be a boy or a girl?"
"I think it's going to be a girl."
"Ok."
She handed me a fitted light pink dress that will show off my baby bump. I walked into my bathroom and got changed.
"You look beautiful in that Sophia."
Stella said.
"Thank you." I had noticed that Gabby was the only one who didn't get changed. That was because she was the only one who knew the gender.
"Here I got us pins that say team boy and team girl."
Sylvie handed me a team girl pin and put one on her dress as well, then she handed Stella a pin that said team boy.
"Ok here's how things are gonna go. I know the gender, nobody else does so I'm gonna take Sophia with me to help me get the cake and the reveal balloons. I won't tell her the gender either. Stella and Brett get the house and the backyard ready with the decorations that are on the table."
"Ok."
Granny grabbed my hand and pulled me downstairs and out to her car.
"Where are we going first?"
"To the bakery. They made me a cake with the color of the gender inside."
"Ok."
After a few minutes in silence I spoke up.
"So what's the gender?"
"I'm not telling you." She said with a laugh.
"Why not?"
"Because you can wait like everyone else."
"Just answer me this. Is it a boy?"
"Maybe."
"Is it a girl?"
"Maybe."
"That's not how it works."
She laughed.
"I told you. You can wait." I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Fine."

We got to the bakery and I looked at the cake.
It said Princess or Prince on it and the icing was pink and blue.
"Ok thank you." I payed for the cake and we went back out to Gabby's car.
"So your really not gonna tell me?"
"No."
"Fine where are we going next?"
"To the party store to get the balloons."
"Ok."

We drove to the party store and Gabby had the owner fill two black balloons with colored confetti.
After a few more errands involving food and stuff we drove back to my house.
"There's already cars here?"
Gabby asked.
"That's my mom's car. That's Jay's truck, and that's Katie's car."
"Oh ok."
I helped Gabby carry things in and we walked to the backyard.
"Hey Sophia." Jay came ever and gave me a kiss on the cheak.
"You look beautiful." He whispered in my ear.
He was wearing a blue t-shirt with a team boy pin on.
"Hi mom. Hi Katie." I greeted my mom and my sister and then finished helping everyone set up.

3 hours later everyone was here.
There was the intelligence unit, firehouse 51, my parents, Jays dad, Will, and Natalie.
There was more people who thought it was going to be a girl then people who thought it was going to be a boy.
After everyone ate it was time to announce the gender and I was so excited.
"Ok everyone come to the backyard." Gabby said grabbing the cake.
I was holding a balloon and so was Jay.
"Ok I'm gonna count down and then you guys can pop the balloons." Gabby said
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1."
Me and Jay popped the balloons at the same time and blue confetti flew everywhere.
I put a hand over my mouth to hide my gasp.
"We are having a boy!" Jay turned and gave me a kiss on the lips.
I heard claps and congratulations.
I went over to the cake and cut it to make sure and it was blue.
Even though I thought I was going to have a girl I still had the biggest smile on my face and I was super excited.
A little while later I wasn't feeling too good so I decided to go to bed. After saying my goodbyes I headed up to Jay and I's bedroom.

An hour later I felt the other side of my bed going down. I knew that Jay was up here.
I'm assuming he thought I was asleep because I felt a hand on my stomach and I heard him start talking.
"I'm gonna teach you how to play football, and baseball, and catch. I'm gonna teach you how to ride a bike, and most importantly I'm gonna teach you how you treat a woman right. Me and your mom are gonna love you no matter what. I already love you so much and I know your mom does as well. You are being born into a huge family that has your back and is gonna protect you. Your gonna be born into a family full of firefighters and cops and doctors and paramedics and they already love you so much. I mean look at how many people showed up to find out if you were a boy or girl. All I wanted to say is that your already loved so much and your gonna be loved even more once your born."
I turned towards Jay.
"Your gonna be a great dad Jay."
"Your gonna be an even better mom."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
I gave him a kiss and went to bed.
