⚠️T.W⚠️ mentions of drug addiction.
————————————————————————
It's been 3 months, 3 months since I fell out of that building. I was able to go back to work if I went on light duty and that's what I did but today I had to go back to doctor to see if they would clear me for good.
I was getting dressed when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist from behind me, I knew it was Jay, but I looked in the mirror I was standing in front of just incase.
"Hey babe."
"Hey Jay."
"Big day huh? Your going back to work today."
"You don't know that."
He turned me around so that I was facing him.
"What do you mean you don't know that? Your concussion free and your arm is healed. Plus your off medication."
"Yeah your right I don't know what I was thinking. I have to run to the bathroom real quick." I put my bag on the bed.

(Jays pov.)
"Yeah your right I don't know what I was thinking. I have to run to bathroom real quick."
Sophia put her bag on the bed and something fell out so I decided to pick it up for her.
I bent down on the ground and picked it up. It was a pill bottle with one pill left. The date was from a week ago. The label said to take one a day for 10 days and there was only one left.
"She lied to me. She said that she was off medication."
I heard the toilet flush so I put the bottle back in the bag.
Sophia walked out of the bathroom.
"I'm gonna get going. Have a good day at work and please stay safe."
"Yeah."
She grabbed her bag and kissed me on the cheek and walked out into the kitchen.

(Sophias Pov.)
I walked out into the kitchen and grabbed the keys to my Grey Jeep Grand Cherokee.
I drove to the doctors office and waited in the waiting room.
"Sophia Severide the doctor is ready to see you know."
I got up and walked into her office.
"Hi Ms. Severide I'm Dr. Janice."
"Hi."
She started to check out my shoulder.
"Your shoulder is fully healed you can go back to work now."
She was getting ready to walk out.
"Wait. I need a prescription refill."
She checked my chart.
"It says here that you got a refill a week ago and they were supposed to last 10 days. When did you run out?"
"Three days ago."
"How did you run out that quick?"
"My... my cat knocked them into the trash off the counter."
"I see, uh I guess I could write you a new prescription."
"Thank you."

I decided to drive to the firehouse.
I walked in to see Shay arguing with Chief Boden.
"Severide come here."
Shay was calling me over to be in the argument.
"Gabby called In sick and we can't find a replacement. Did your doctor clear you for work?"
"Yeah why?"
"Chief can she fill in for Dawson while she's out?"
"I guess."
"Thanks Chief."
"Come on Severide we have to stock the rig."
"Ok."
I hated stocking the rig when I was a paramedic.
"Ambulance 61, Man down from unknown causes."
Perfect timing.
I hopped in the passenger side of the rig and Shay started driving off.

We pulled up the the house and saw a lady standing in the driveway.
"Ma'am are you the one who called 911?"
"Yeah my..my daughter she.. she won't move."
"Ok where is she?"
"This way."
She led us into the living room where a young girl no older than 7 was laying unconscious on the couch.
"What exactly happened?"
"She started shaking and then she stopped."
"Shay she had a seizure."
I checked her pulse and shook my head no.
Shay placed her stethoscope on the young girls heart and shook her head no as well.
"Severide start compressions while I get these leads on her."
Shay put the leads to the heart monitor on her while I started compressions on the young girl and. Shay charged the paddles.
"Charged to 100. Clear."
I lifted my hands off the girl and checked her pulse: nothing.
"Charged to 200. Clear."
I lifted my hands off the girl again and checked her pulse. It was there and the heart monitor started beeping.
"Come on let's get her to med the mother can ride in the back with me. Severide can you drive?"
"Yeah of course."
We drove to med and dropped the little girl and her mother off.
The rest of the day was pretty easy and it was finally time to go home.

I drove to Jays apartment and used the key he gave me to get in.
I was surprised to see him making dinner.
"Hey babe I didn't know you would be home."
"It was an easy case we were done pretty quick."
"That's good I'm gonna go take a shower."
"Ok."
I set my bag down on the counter and went to take a shower.

(Jays pov.)
As soon as I heard the water in the shower running I went to check Sophia's bag. I knew it wasn't right but if she's addicted to drugs then she's gonna need someone to talk to about it.
I went into her bag and found normal things like her keys, her badge, gum, her wallet, and her drivers license. I looked a little more in her bag and found the same pill bottle from this morning only this time it was full and the date was today.
I heard her walk out of the bathroom
"Really Sophia?"
"What?"
I held the bottle of pills up and her eyes went wide.
"Did you go through my bag?"
She snatched the bottle out of my hands
"Yeah I did because I'm worried about you. This morning when you went to the bathroom the empty pill bottle fell out of your bag and now it's full. You lied to me about not having the medication. Sophia if you have a problem you need to tell me so I can help you."
"I'm fine Jay!"
"Your obviously not Sophia!"
"Jay I am not your responsibility!"
"Sophia I care about you!"
I knew she was mad at me now.
"I'm not having this fight with you! Goodbye!"
She grabbed the pill bottle out of my hand. Or at least tried to but I held onto it too tight.
"Give me it."
I rolled my eyes and loosened my grip on it.
She grabbed her bag and her keys and slipped her sneakers back on. She went to leave but I grabbed her arm.
"Leave me alone Jay!" She yelled yanking her arm from my hand.
"Fine Sophia. Goodnight."
"Yeah whatever." I watched her leave.
She wasn't fine and I'm gonna do everything in my power to help her because that's what you do when the people you love are hurting themselves.
