Bits of wood and stone went flying as another portion of your backyard exploded into a shower of sparks and rubble. Sweat dripped down your face unapologetically and your skin was scalding hot, but taking a break wasn't anywhere on your mind. A sizzling beam of light came surging from your palm again, striking your harmless and innocent yard. You were lucky your house was on a large, undisturbed plot of land, for if you had neighbours you could only assume their houses would be very much destroyed.

The past two nights you hadn't had much sleep. You had two days left to pull together a revolution that was a far fetched idea from the start, and the stress was not being easy on you. Instead of getting a good rest like you knew you should have, instead you spent your nights rolling and tossing around in bed, mind roiling as you went through your plans over and over and over again, checking for any gaps and mishaps that might have slipped by you initially. As much as you would have been comforted just pushing sleep away altogether and focusing solely on getting your plans sorted, Chan wasn't having any of it. You may have been in charge of the entire revolution but Chan was in charge of you, and he was taking his job seriously.

Through all of the stress, you found training to be the best way to relieve your stress. Initially you had been too busy to do anything other than hand-to-hand combat with Chan, going over the basics and making sure that both of you were freshly briefed before heading into the biggest challenge of your lives. But then it escalated. The night before you'd found sleep evading you, so you'd crawled out of bed in the early morning and decided to test out your powers. You weren't quite sure when it got light outside and you certainly weren't sure when your powers switched from curious to explosive.

You wanted to tests your limits, see how far you could push yourself. As it turned out, you were capable of a lot more than you thought you were. It was enough to tear up the entirety of your backyard and knock over more than a couple trees.

"Jesus Christ!" Chan yelped when he stepped out the back, just missing the shower of bark that flew from the tree you'd just taken a hole out of. Your attention snapped when you heard his voice, whipping around to face him.

Now out of your reverie, you noticed how fatigued your body was. Using this much power always flooded you with a sense of euphoria, but you knew that when it disappeared your joints and muscles would be useless and you would probably pass out on the spot. Not to mention that you were drenched in sweat, your shirt soaked and sticking to your skin. It was the middle of winter, and you could feel the cold breeze brush up against your exposed arms and face, but your body was burning.

"What the hell did you do?" Chan's word were breathless as he surveyed your yard. He was holding a mug of coffee in each hand, probably assuming you were only just getting a start on your day. You didn't think this was the scene he was expecting to come back to when you said you were going to go over some basic training quickly.

"I suppose I made a bit of a mess." You chewed your lip as you took in all the damage.

"For Satan's sake I sure hope he doesn't look like a tree or he is going to be in for it." He shook his head disapprovingly at what was left of your yard before coming over and pressing one of the mugs into your hand. "Jesus, you're burning up, you should probably take a break."

"Yeah, you're probably right." You didn't want to waste all your energy before you had to fight Satan. "You, on the other hand, should probably get busy. You're still adamant on fighting in this war and I'm not sending you in empty handed."

Though Chan wasn't extremely fond of weapons, he still insisted on fighting, so he had come at his training with a renewed vigour. It still felt like murder sending a human into a magical war with only four days training, but there was no way you could persuade him without sacrificing your position as well. You were counting on a ridiculous amount of protective spells and hexes to keep him safe while you weren't there, and besides, he was going to be with your siblings. You could trust them to protect him without you there.
