hello! before you start reading this book, i would like to say a few things first. in the beginning, there aren't going to be anything "mcyt" related YET. the reason for this is because i want to get the background info for y/n in first, instead of jumping straight into the story and introducing new plot ideas randomly.
you may feel in the beginning as if this is a regular book, but it is not that i promise. you just need to keep on reading. also, some things in this are going to change just a bit. for example, one of niki's cats is not actually named cinder, which you'll see later on. i changed the name because i wanted it to fit more in with niki's aesthetic in the book. also, niki will be a bit older than y/n and dream just so that it can make more sense.
also, i made a playlist for when you finish reading the "before" part in the story. the link will be at the end of this note for anyone who wants to listen to it while reading.
the theme for this story is obviously enemies to lovers, but i decided to be more specific. this is more of a one-sided hate story rather than your typical two-sided hate story. basically, on one person's side of the story, they hate the other with a passion, while the other one doesn't.
if you listen to the songs, you will notice that the title of the playlist is "i lost a friend." the reason for this is because y/n will lose dream as maybe something more in the beginning, and the songs are representative of her feelings after he leaves.
the songs will make more sense when you listen to them and read the book! also, i will not specify where the book takes place (although dream does live in florida, you can imagine it to be somewhere else).

y/n: skater
clay: grunge
if you don't like the aesthetics, then you can of course imagine different outfits/aesthetic! whatever makes you happy<3
