WEDNESDAY:
10:09 pm...
We all laugh once more as Niki clicks the end stream button. We collapse on the floor, exhaustion tugging at us. Notebooks and notepads and paper scattered everywhere, some candy wrappers and food wrappers on the coffee table.
Wilbur won the challenge by a large amount, and I was last since I had joined late. We all lie on the floor, none of us wanting to move. "So, is this your last day?" I ask quietly and Wilbur sighs. "Seems like it."
Niki hums. "I wish you could stay longer. I was planning on inviting Dream this weekend so that we could all go to the state fair." I immediately sit up, no longer exhausted. "What?" I ask, staring at her. Niki flashes me a small smile. "Don't you think it'd be fun? For all four of us to go together?"
Wilbur catches my eye and he hides a snort as I stare at Niki in disbelief. I knew that we were having the state fair this weekend and the next, but going with Dream? That was uncalled for. "I- well, for us three to go together will be fun, but with Dream?" I respond and Niki's smile slightly falters.
"What's wrong with Dream?" She asks and Wilbur sits up Niki following. I shake my head profusely. "Just an egotistical bitch." I shrug and they both laugh. My mind wanders to a previous memory of Dream and I, and how he laughed at me for assuming that he's a Leo, which he is one.
I shake the thought away, his soft laughter echoing in my head. Niki sighs. "Wil, do you think you can extend your stay here?" She glances at him and Wilbur furrows his brows. "I have a few things to do at home... but I guess it can wait." Niki and I let out cheers of excitement and he laughs.
"Don't get too excited. I have to leave on Monday though." I shrug. "Hey, at least you get to stay here for four more days." We all share a little chuckle before someone's phone rings. I check and see that it's my phone. I excuse myself, seeing them start to clean up.
I head to the backyard, another memory passing in my head once I catch a view of the swingset. I swallow and rush to sit at a bench near the swingset. I don't bother glancing at who it is before I pick up.
"Hello?" The moment the voice rings out, my blood runs cold and my breathing comes to a stop. My heart starts to race and I want to scream. I shouldn't be this affected by him. I shouldn't be acting as if I like him. I don't like him. At least, I don't want to like him.
"What do you want." I bite out, my breath clouding in the air for a second. He laughs and my blood starts to warm up. I close my eyes before reopening them. "What, can I not call you or something?" "I don't want to talk to you Dream," I respond and the line goes quiet.
I expected him to at least respond with something snarky but he doesn't. A solid 10 seconds go by before he responds. "You saw my text. You ignored it. Why?" He only says and a hint of confusion laces my voice as I reply.
"What text are you talking about?" I hear him sigh softly. "You know what text." I wait a few seconds, trying to remember what he means. Finally, it hits me, and the breath gets knocked out of me. Right. I nearly blew my cover at the store.
"y/n?" He asks, making sure I'm still there. I suck in a breath and I try to act calm. "What?" "Do you remember?" Dream asks and I roll my eyes nervously. "Yeah, I do. What about it?" Dream sighs, and I hear his keys clacking. I pull the phone away from my ear and stare at the screen.
Someone, please tell me this man isn't playing fucking Minecraft while having this conversation with me.
"What do you mean about it? Cause like... I don't get it." He responds, his tone starting to get frustrated as if he's thought about it multiple times over and he still can't figure it out. I shrug, knowing he can't see me. "I mean... the words are there. You should be able to figure it out," then I pause, smiling. "Last time I checked, it was meant for 3+ and older."
