7) Passionate Heart

It was almost unfitting to Miyako how the air blowed without any sense of disturbance. After such a serious conversation with Qinglongmon and the other Chosen Children, it didn't seem normal to Miyako to feel the Digital World seem to sway and dance as if nothing wrong had ever taken place. She knew that it wasn't as if the Digital World could precisely respond to what was happening on Earth, but it was still enough of a whiplash that it caught her attention. 

She glanced down to her D-3 and looked at the screen. The device seemed to sense her desires, and Miyako smiled down at the pixelated image of a white plume of flame. It was the mark of her Crest, something that she knew she was going to come to know and love with time. She hadn't ever expected to get a Crest that wasn't specifically inherited for the sake of utilizing Digimentals. The Digimentals had undoubtedly been modeled after Crests that had already been created, hence the absence of the recent Crests from the group, and Miyako tucked that away in the back of her mind as the explanation for the time being.

Miyako was only pulled out of her thoughts and mindless wandering through the Digital World when Hawkmon pressed his feathers against the back of her legs. She glanced down and noticed that his head was pointing in the general direction of the other girls. They were walking nearby, and all eyes were on Meiko.

"How did you and Meicoomon meet? I want to hear all the details," Mimi commented. "You'll hear more than enough about our story and everything that we've been through with time, but I want to learn about what you've seen before coming here to the Digital World with us."

Meiko flushed again at the sudden overwhelming attention. She pressed a few strands of dark hair behind her ear and did her best to avoid eye contact from the people around her. "Um... It was back in January of 2000. I was wandering around through the forests in the Tottori area, and I happened to see her in the trees," she replied. "Meicoomon didn't know much about her life before coming to meet me, but she told me everything that I needed to know about her as a Digimon. Granted, it was pretty basic knowledge, but... It was enough for everything to make sense for the time being."

"I see..." Sora whispered as she shut her eyes for a moment. "If you don't mind my asking, did you have any previous experiences with Digimon before you crossed paths with Meicoomon?"

Meiko's head tilted to the side, and she eyed Sora with confusion. "Ah, no... I'm afraid not. The first time that I saw any Digimon, it was when Meicoomon appeared and we became friends. I don't think that I've seen any other Digimon before then. I don't know if you were expecting anything else, but that's the truth of the matter," she replied with a loose shrug.

"That's odd," Hawkmon murmured. "One pattern that we have noticed with Chosen Children is that they have some other experience with Digimon prior to their being selected by the higher forces of the Digital World. It happened with every member of our team, and the same applies to international teams."

"Back in 1995, there was an attack in Hikarigaoka when two Digimon began to fight. I was there with the other members of our team of original eight, and we were the primary people to see what happened. That was when we were recognized by the Digital World's higher powers, and then we were selected to have partner Digimon," Mimi explained. "In the beginning, it was me, Sora, Taichi, Yamato, Koushiro, Jou, and Takeru. Hikari joined us later to help in the end of our adventure."

"What happened with you then, Miyako?" Meiko questioned as she glanced over in the direction of the lavender-haired girl. "I think that they mentioned a second team, and I suppose that must apply to you..."

Miyako cleared her throat upon being addressed. "Well, I saw a fight over the internet involving Digimon. It was between Omegamon, a Digimon formed from Agumon and Gabumon, fighting against Diablomon. Kids all over the world happened to see it too. In fact, that was probably around the same time that you met your partner... Actually, I saw the fight after you met your partner if you and Meicoomon first saw each other back in the beginning of 2000," she explained.
