Well... Here we are.
After almost a year of writing and more than half a year of planning before that, Echo is done. It's taken a long time to reach this point, but I'm so unbelievably happy with how this story has turned out.
First and foremost, I want to thank every single person who has read this far and enjoyed this story as it's been posted. It took a lot of effort in order to get this story to its current state, and every single one of you made that possible by reading, commenting, and liking the story. Thank you all so much for everything that you've done to support me and this story. I don't think I'll ever be able to thank you enough.
This story has been a ride from start to finish. This whole thing started when I was watching Tri back in July of 2020 with some friends and wound up deciding to rewrite the entire series. I found the original Tri to be fine (albeit one of my least favorite Digimon series), but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to put my own ideas into the series for something new. I'm so happy that I decided to follow through with that because of how well it's turned out. This has been so much fun to work on, and I'm in love with the finished product.
The next question that comes with something like this is... What next? Well, I can say with a lot of confidence that I probably won't be returning to this universe again in the future. If I do, it will only be for a brief one shot or two. I planned all of this out before I saw Kizuna, and that means that it is very gracelessly inconsistent with Kizuna. As a movie, Kizuna is rather complicated just by existing and requires a lot of analysis to understand, but I don't think that its existence really meshes well with the messages and themes of Echo. If I wanted to, I could rewrite Kizuna to work with the new universe Echo has established, but I don't think I really have the desire to do something like that, and I feel like it would spiral out of control pretty quickly. I mean, the canon of Tri is 26 episodes, and this story is 80 chapters. As much as I love this story, I don't think I'm going to be picking up with it in the future, so you can consider this the end of the line for my rewritten Tri universe. That being said, if this did inspire you in any way to create your own art relating to the story, I would love to see it, and you can reach out to me on any social media platform I'm on any time.
Does me leaving this universe here mean that I'm done writing for Digimon? Nope. I'm going to start working on my Frontier rewrite universe again soon, and a sequel has already been released as of the time of this chapter being up since this is going up in August 2022 while it's being written in December 2021. I haven't started the story yet, but it should be about twelve chapters deep by the time this chapter is released. My Frontier rewrite universe is a lot like this one in terms of being a reimagining of an existing Digimon story, though its changes are more centered on characters rather than plot. Frontiers Unexplored inspired me to rewrite Tri as well, so if you'd like more Digimon content from me, you can check out the Horizon Wars series as well as the Digimon-related one-shots on my profile.
I really don't have all that much else to say here, so... I want to say thank you again. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me and this story enough for them to get this far. It means the world to me, and I couldn't ever express that enough. I write a bunch of other content for other series as well, and if you check those out too, it would be greatly appreciated. Any support helps me out a lot, and it means the world to me to hear from you all.
If you'd like to contact me on social media, I'm most active on my Twitter, which you can find linked below. I'm also rather active on Discord, and the link to my server is also down below. I really do like hearing from readers, so if you ever get the urge to reach out, you know where to find me. Thank you all again so much, and I hope you all have a great day.
Until next time, happy butterflies.
A final time,
Digital
