Comments at the end of the chapter about stuff!

It seems this world is always trying to separate me from Big Bro. Some blond Garrison guy told Mikasa and I to join them in the elite group leading civilians into Wall Rose. I sat on the edge of a building next to the gate. The sky turned gray and dark from numerous clouds.

"Stop slouching!" The blond guy, Ian, ordered. "The last groups are coming!" I stood up and drew my blades. I could see the heads of Titans in the distance slowly getting closer. "Go join up with your friend!" I nodded and flew over to Mikasa, who was located closest to the rest of the cadets, probably looking for Eren.

"We're getting ready for the last push." I told her as I landed. She whipped her head around before sighing and looking back to the horde of oncoming Titans. "We need your head in the game, Mikasa." She covered her mouth with her red scarf and clutched it tightly. "Are you gonna be okay? Eren can handle himself."

"What if he can't?" She asked. She was slightly shaking. I've never seen her so scared. "What if he dies?"

"He's not gonna die that easily." I replied. "It's not how he is."

"I guess."

"Listen," I put my hand on her shoulder and turned her around, "you're strong. You can't let this world see that you're scared right now. It'll take advantage of you." She nodded and drew her blades.

"Right." She agreed. "If I live, I win. If I die, I lose. I'll die if I'm scared."

"That's more like it. Let's kill some Titans." Just as I said that, a Titan rushed passed the building we stood on, charging towards the gate. We both blasted towards it. "I'll slow it down." She nodded as I stuck into the Titan's leg before swiftly slicing them both of, allowing Mikasa an easy shot at its nape. She easily succeeded, and the Titan was killed before it reached the group of retreating civilians at the gate. I climbed on top of the quickly decomposing Titan corpse and saw a disturbing sight. Some merchant asshole was blocking everyone's way out by trying to get his cart through the gate when it was clearly too large for it. "I'll, uh, leave you to it." I shot to a nearby building and took another seat on the ledge, watching the show.

Mikasa did her usual schtick, threatening the merchant with her sword and getting him to surrender, and he let everyone through the gate. I could see a mother and daughter looking at Mikasa like a hero before Mikasa saluted them and retreated to the rooftop.

"That was pretty cool." I chuckled.

"Blunted my blades." She sighed as she disconnected the weapons and replace them. "Need to be more careful.

"That was impressive." Ian complimented. "What have you gone through to learn that at such a young age?" Mikasa gave him a look that meant that she doesn't want to tell him. He took the hint and returned to his squad mates.

"Why must I remember that day now?" She asked. I stood up and withdrew my blades.

"Huh?"

"That day I met Eren. When we..." She trailed off and hid her face under her scarf again. "No matter how much violence I create, taking a life like that still scares me at times."

"Don't be scared, Mikasa." I told her.

"Yeah, as long as I have Eren, I can do anything."

"I guess that works." I chuckled. I then felt a raging headache that almost brought me to my knees. I groaned and held my head.

"Are you okay?" Mikasa asked. The headache was gone as quickly as it began.

"Yeah." I told her. "I don't know what that was." We both heard a very faint scream in the distance. Mikasa felt something as she held her head and a singular tear dripped down her face.
