I slowly opened my eyes. I sat up and listened to the creak of the bed. My name is Sam Weiss. I'm currently five years old. I lived in the biggest hell hole in the world. Liberio.

I'm an Eldian. That's probably the biggest problem in my life. In my life, I'd been the center of attention for a bunch of meetings of people. I had absolutely no idea why.

I got up off of my bed and went to get dressed. I got some casual clothes on with a gray shirt and brown pants. I decided to stay in bare feet. The shoes I did have were really worn down, so I used them sparingly. Every step a tool sent a freak into the wooden floor of my house. I slowly walked down the stairs into the kitchen.

"Good morning, Sam." My mom said as she was cooking breakfast.

"Morning, Mom." I smiled.

"Why didn't you wake your brother?" She asked.

"I let him sleep." I answered as I took a seat at the wooden table. "He'd freak out if I woke him."

"How old do you think he is?" Mom asked.

"Younger than me." I grumbled.

"By a year, Sam." She groaned. "Go wake Ryan up, please."

"Fine." I groaned as I stood up and made my way back up the stairs. I pushed open the creaky door to our room. I went over to his bed and swiped the covers right off of him. "Get up, you poop!"

"Hey!" Ryan cried as he woke up. "That was mean! Why did you do that?!"

"Mom told me to wake you up." I answered, rolling my eyes.

Ryan was a little bit shorter than me. My parents had him just over a year after me. He had messy, black hair and gray eyes. He got his hair from our Dad, who sported the same color. His eyes were a mystery.

I got my light brown hair from Mom. It was similar to Ryan's as it was also slightly messy. Mom also had blue eyes, which I had. The two of us made a pact to stay in shape to defend ourselves. Mom and Dad were supportive of Ryan doing it, but they were more reluctant with me, for some reason. We would go for jogs and lift heavy things for some money. It was really helpful for us, since Mom didn't have a job, and Dad worked at a weapons factory. He was actually working right now. It wasn't exactly a guaranteed job each day. Tons of people wanted to work, but the jobs were limited.

He had some guaranteed days, but most times he had to get there really early.

Me and my brother also enjoyed watching the blimps fly by. We never dared to go outside to see where they land, since they were outside of the zone.

Most people that saw us looked at us in horror. Dad actually told me and Ryan about them. We learned about how Marleyans perceive us as devils. It always confused me, but they said they would tell me the story of Eldia and Marley one day.

"Don't forget your armband!" Ryan said as am he stood up.

"Lay off." I groaned. "We don't have to wear them in our house."

"Yeah, we do." He argued. "I won't take the risk of the soldiers killing us."

"Fine." I said as I opened the drawer to our desk and grabbed my armband. We both had a desk we shared opposite to my bed. We both loved drawing, so we would draw things when we were bored. We both wrapped our armbands around our left bicep and exited the room.

We both made it downstairs. Mom greeted Ryan the same way she greeted me before we both took a seat at the table. She placed a single waffle in front of each of us.

Ryan inhaled the thing before thanking Mom and bringing his plate to her to clean. He then took a seat next to me.

"Come on, Big Bro." I said. "I wanna go outside."
