"GET IN LINE!" I heard. The three of us looked to see a man in his mid-thirties with a mustache and a large scowl. I quickly jogged to the others, who were already lined up. Annie was on my right, and Ryan was on her right. He was probably going to find out what our names are. He stood in front of us with a blue, Marleyan uniform with countless badges on it. He was clearly a high-ranking officer.

"My name is Captain Magath!" He said. I'd heard of him from rumors over the past year. He was the most strict and ruthless person anyone's ever seen, according to others. This display has proved that point so far. "The military believe that you nine are the best of what they've seen! However, until you pass my standards, you Eldian scum are just that! Scum!" He began to stomp over to the person on the far right. It was Zeke. He was a blond boy with a very tall frame. He was also the oldest candidate, so it made sense he was the tallest. He took a step towards Magath and turned to us.

"Zeke Jaeger is the front runner and is confirmed to gain a Titan power." Magath started. "He is here merely to help hone his skills for when he becomes the new War Chief for the next generation of Titan Shifters. He will be gaining the Beast Titan in a few days. Zeke oozed confidence. However... I knew that there was a little hint of something else in his face.

I became a very good judge of emotions over the last year. His slightly sad eyes seemed like he wasn't particularly happy about something. It probably had to do with becoming a Titan Shifter because his face altered when it was brought up. I just looked into his blue eyes. For a few seconds, his eyes locked with mine. I didn't blink the entire time he stared at me. I let out a small snort of air from my nose. It was a little loud because Magath turned to me.

"What was that?!" He yelled as he stomped over to me. I could see a slight tinge of worry on Ryan's face as the soldier stood over me. "What's so funny?!"

"Emotions." I stated. I guess I was trying to be poetic, but it was quite moronic. I looked over at Zeke for half a second. I then immediately felt a cold metal on my forehead. I saw the barrel of a pistol pushed against my head. I did my best to hide my fear, but there were slight cues, and my heart rate skyrocketed. A few droplets of sweat dropped down my forehead.

"Still laughing?" Magath snarled.

"No, Sir!" I yelled. He withdrew his gun back into its holster. "I've been told you were of the elite even among the best over the past year. What is your name, little shit?"

"Sam Weiss, Captain." I responded, calmly.

"Well... Sam Weiss, why do you want to become a member of the Warrior Unit?" He asked.

"I want to have the opportunity of strengthening Marley in the best way possible." I lied. I couldn't have cared less about Marley, but I just wanted to do the right thing.

Over the past year, I had become annoyed with the constant speeches from my parents about Eldia's restoration. I found it almost as ignorant as Marley itself. They believed anything that followed their point of view... not even trying to find any truth in Marley's point of view. They only believe that because that's what they want to believe.

I have almost a double-sided front. I faked supporting Eldia and Marley at the same time. I haven't even told Ryan my actual reason.

I have read countless books on each side of the story. I have read all about the violence both sides went through. The body count nearly made me sick.

My parents had told me that I was much more mature than a normal seven-year-old, and I took their word for it. Ryan was a year younger, yet he still acted like he was a baby.

I came up with a solution. I would use my powers to help Marley, while performing my real work out of view. I hadn't worked out the details, but I wanted to stop the violence from ever happening again. It was too much. Whether the solution was to kill all Eldians or Marleyans, I was prepared to do it. I couldn't have this world suffer anymore because of the beliefs of two ignorant groups of people.
