Ryan
I closed the door to the Jaeger household behind me. My black hair damp from the pouring rain. The entire family stared at me. Tears still poured out of my eyes. I then slid down the door to the ground. I held the sides of my head between my knees. I just sobbed. No one said a word.
"What happened?" Eren asked. I looked up at his slightly worried face.
"Someone took him." I answered. A headache rippled through my forehead. "I couldn't even protect him."
"Was there any indication who it was that took him?" Grisha asked while adjusting his glasses. I just nodded 'no.' I then felt a pair of arms wrap around my cold body. I looked up and saw Carla's cheek nuzzled against mine. Tears still dripped down my wet face, but it wasn't that cold anymore. I quickly hugged her back and wailed into her shoulder.
"Big Bro." I cried into her shoulder.
"Let it all out." She whispered into my shoulder.
Surprisingly, everyone remained in the room as I cried. However, the moment I stopped crying, Carla looked back at Grisha, and he knew exactly what she was saying before she even said a word. He nodded and ushered the kids back to their beds. Carla then stood up and looked down at me. She held out her hand and smiled. I rubbed my eyes and took her soft hand. I stood up, and she led me to the dinner table. She sat me down and took a seat across from me.
Apparently, they had lit a few candles since I ran out of the house. Carla had blacked one in between us. I sniffled and rubbed my eyes.
"What is it?" I asked, depressingly. Carla sighed and gave me a small smile. I could tell it was a smile of pity. It gave me a feeling of rage and sadness.
"I want you to tell me about you and your brother." She explained.
"Where do you want me to start?" I asked with my head down.
"I want to know about you two." She explained. "I need to know what you two were like. Explain everything to me." I wanted to. I wanted to break down and tell her everything, but there was something in my mind telling me to keep it secret. I hated lying to her, but I couldn't tell her who I really was.
"I am still not sure to this day where me and my brother were born." I started. "He is just over a year older than me."
"You mentioned that you and your brother had moved around a lot with your parents, why?" She asked.
"We didn't know at the time... but our parents weren't exactly doing legal things." I continued. "We has to move from place to place to avoid the Military Police."
"How did they die?" She asked. I began to think back to that moment. Seeing Dad's defeated face and Mom's tear-stained face. I began to slightly tear up again. Carla seemed to notice this. "Sorry. That was a bad question to ask." She then stared into the flame of the candle. "Is there any way we could find out who took your brother?" Grisha then appeared at the bottom of the stairs.
"Kids are in bed." He explained. I looked back at Carla and answered,
"They were all people in dark suits and hats to cover their appearance." Grisha seemed to almost know who I was talking about. His eyes widened for a split second before returning to normal, but I was able to see it for the split second. He then stood next to the table. "Do you know who I'm talking about, Grisha?"
"Unfortunately, I don't." He answered. I didn't fully believe him.
"Are you sure?" I eyed him, suspiciously.
"I am sure." He answered. I quickly stood up and stomped over to him.
"Ryan." Carla put her hand on my shoulder. I pushed it off and stared into Grisha's eyes.
