I awoke to a cold room, the fireplace wasn't lit as it usually was, and the blankets were on the floor. "Ah- damn it." I quickly grasped my head; I had a splitting headache from all the alcohol last night. I looked over at the clock it was ten till noon. 'I should probably get up.' I thought as I tried to rise from the mattress which seemed to have enveloped me.
"Excuse me, is master (L/n) awake?" A high-pitched voice asked from below.
"I am awake, thank you." I said looking over to see Daisy the house elf. "What can I do for you Ms. Daisy?" I asked as I slowly sat up.
"Oh! Master should never refer to Daisy with such titles! It is what Daisy can do for you Master." Daisy said looking up at me.
"Uh, maybe a light snack? I think I have some meds in my jacket pocket." I said absentmindedly.
"Absolutely! Daisy will be right back!" The little house elf pipped before disappearing with a snap. I quickly grabbed my coat, which was on the floor with my bed sheets, and grabbed the muggle painkillers, I didn't feel like seeing Madam Pomfrey so it would have to do. "Here you go Master!" Daisy had what looked like a grilled cheese.
"Thank you, Daisy, do you think I could get some water?" I asked searching the room for my water bottle.
"Of course Master (L/n)!" Daisy said quickly, and as soon as she was gone, she was back.
"Thank you again, Daisy." I said as I quickly scarfed down the sandwich.
"Of- Of course Master (L/n), tis a house elf's job to care for their masters, plus Headmaster Dumbledore was worried about Ms. (L/n)." She finished. I quickly downed the pain killers and water.
"He was worried?" I asked looking down at her. "Why?"
"Oh Daisy must not tell, Headmaster Dumbledore said that Ms. (L/n) should take care of herself and that he would like to wish you a merry Christmas." Daisy explained.
"Ah well I'll have to go see him once I'm showered, thank you again Daisy." I said getting up.
"Ms. (L/n) is far too nice to poor Daisy." She said before she left with a pop.
I quickly showered and got dressed, I made it down to the great hall, hopefully Harry was eating, or something. It's one of the first Christmases that I get to spend with him.
"Good afternoon (Y/n)." Minerva's voice rang through the hallway.
"Ah- Professor McGonagall! Good afternoon." I said quickly.
"I see you made it back alright, we hadn't seen you yesterday, we were worried." She said looking me up and down.
"I suppose, I'm so sorry for making you worry, look Professor, did I- did I upset anyone? The Minister? Hagrid?" I asked quickly, surprisingly I did remember everything from that night.
"Hagrid was a bit shaken up when you left but, nobody is angry with you dear girl." She said patting my arm. "You never told me you were engaged." She said looking at me with sad eyes.
"We- I was gonna tell more people, but then James and Lily were- and he got imprisoned and I-" I tried to stop the tears, but they escaped anyway.
"Oh it's okay dear, I'm sorry for what happened." She said pulling me into a hug. I quickly tried to stop, and I did, but not before McGonagall's robe was soaked. "By the way, did you perhaps purchase a new racing broom for Harry and forget to leave a note?" She asked.
"I- I don't believe so, let me check." I said before reaching into my pocket, "No, it looks like all of my galleons are still here." I said putting the sack back into the pocket. "Why?"
