Val's POV
I managed to fall asleep for a few hours. When I finally managed to pull myself out of bed I got dressed in a pair of black jeans with some rips in them, a strapless black bra, and a mesh see through black button up shirt. I paired the entire thing off with a pair a black boots that had a wedge. After a while I found myself walking through the halls until I spotted Alec standing in the doorway of Jace's bedroom. I walked over and joined him only to stop when I noticed Clary was there as well. I brushed off the fact that she could be my sister and stood next to Alec.
"Valentine has my mother!" Clary yelled out frustrated. "That's what I saw."
"Emotions are nothing but a distraction for you. You're ruled by them." I said causing them to turn to me. "We are taught to control them." I add.
"And how is that working out for you?" Clary sneered.
I glared at her and didn't realize that my eyes had turned black. "It was perfect before you got here. Before you got here my brother never lost focus on a mission. My best friend and brother never let a mundane get between their bond as parabatai. And I never came second in my brother's life until now. Now we've broken almost every Clave law just to help you, so if Alec is saying that your necklace is dangerous then it's his job to protect this Institute." I said. I knew they were talking about the necklace she had been wearing that was currently in Jace's hands.
"If Valentine can see in, that's a door I have to shut. Now... let me have a look at that thing." Alec said. Jace handed the necklace to Alec. "Now it's in the proper hands." Alec said, as I smirk and follow him out of the room and down to the training room. I took his stele out of his pocket and skipped forward and unlocked the tile with the lockbox. Clary argued with Alec some more.
"Whatever. Leave it there." I said before I walked away. I ended up walking through the halls some more. I ended up in the training room after a while and was shocked when I saw Maryse and Lucy standing there watching Jace train. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Izzy and Clary walk up to us as well. I smiled and ran toward my parabatai. "Luce!" I yelled as I pulled her into a hug.
"Val." She said happily. "Wow." She added as she looked between me and Clary. "You know you two could be sisters."
I froze as her words registered in my mind before I chuckled. "Please, I'd rather be a mundane than Valentine's daughter." I said. "Welcome home Maryse." I said looking toward my adoptive mother. She pulled me into a hug.
"It's nice to see one of you keeping the institute intact." Maryse told me.
"Well, since my brother's been leading the unsanctioned missions one of us has had to stay behind while the other keeps Jace in line." I tell her. "Where's Max?" I asked waiting for the smallest and youngest Lightwood to come running and beg me to go take him shopping for new comics.
"The Mumbai Institute." Maryse said as Jace finally noticed his audience.
"Maryse. Hey. It's great to see you." Jace said as he walked over to us. I moved away from her and grabbed my phone sending a quick text to Alec.
'Maryse and Lucy are home. Training room. ASAP.'
Jace is pulled into a hug by Maryse and he ruffles Lucy's black hair. I laugh as she swats his hands away. I keep a lookout for Alec therefore ignoring Jace asking Maryse the same questions I did.
"I love how Shadowhunters share. A hidden brother and sister, and a secret country, and a private portal." Clary said somewhat furious. Before I had a chance to say anything Alec finally joined us. He placed one hand on my shoulder in a calming manner and hugged his mother. I caught sight of the smirk that the sisters shared and rolled my eyes.
