Val's POV
I groaned when I heard Izzy's heels pulling me out of sleep. I sat up as my door opened revealing Izzy, Alec, and Hodge.
"Meeting in 10." Alec said when he noticed I was awake. I sighed and pushed the covers off of me before I got up and walked over to my closet. I pulled a black t-shirt over my head and found my favorite pair of ripped skinny jeans and quickly pulled them on and messed with the chains hanging from the belt loops while I looked for a pair of black combat boots. I quickly found the pair that were pretty much brand new since my last pair was covered in demon ichor and pulled them on. I walked out of my closet and into my bathroom running a brush through my hair and brushed my teeth quickly before I walked back into my room and grabbed my usual leather jacket and headed down to the Ops room. I took the seat Jace was standing in front of while Izzy and Clary sat on the table.
"Magnus Bane. He's over 300 years old. And as you can see he's not exactly shied away from the pleasures of every century. His tastes are both exquisite and quite excessive." Hodge says after I sit down and accept the coffee that Alec handed me as a peace offering.
"He looks like the Downworld's David Guetta." Clary said.
"Guetta's already a downworlder." Izzy said.
I caught Clary's confused look. "Vampire. Ever seen him in the daylight?" I said with a small smirk.
"Can you three focus?" Alec said. "This is not a joke."
"Someone needs to get slayed." Izzy said, teasingly. I saw him tense up out of the corner of my eye and glance down at me for a moment before he quickly looked away.
"Alec's right." Hodge said getting us back on track. "Now, Magnus is one of the most powerful warlocks I've ever known. He has a deep mistrust of Shadowhunters."
"Well, then why did he help my mom remove my memories? Isn't she a Shadowhunter?" Clary asked.
"Yes, one of the best. But 'help' might not be the most accurate word. Now did Magnus provide a service to Jocelyn? Perhaps. But more than likely, your mother paid Magnus handsomely for his magic." Hodge told her.
I blocked out what everyone was saying until I noticed Alec and Izzy getting up. I followed after them and stopped in front of the tile that had the lockbox. Hodge activated the rune on the tile and the lockbox slid up showing us a necklace of a red stone hidden underneath. Hodge picked it up.
"Is that real?" Izzy asked.
"A 4 karat, unheated Burmese ruby. And this necklace has special meaning to Magnus Bane as it was a gift from him to his then lover, Camille Belcourt." Hodge said. "Magnus bought it in 1857 for the price of his London townhouse. Now the jewel is enchanted by a spell that alerts the wearer to the presence of demons." Hodge continued, ignoring Clary and Jace.
"It's so beautiful." Izzy said as she took the jewel.
"Magnus has longed to reunite with this necklace. Offer it to him. He might just take the bait." Hodge said.
"I'll send Magnus a fire message to arrange the meeting." Jace said.
"We have to get to Magnus before Valentine does." I added.
I found myself in Izzy's room once again as she started going through the dresses in her closet. She quickly found a silver dress which she placed on the door of her wardrobe.
"Jace said you wanted to see me?" Clary asked as she came in not long after Izzy started looking for a dress for me.
"That's right." Izzy said. "What are you wearing to the Downworlder party tonight?" She asked.
