Val's POV

Lucy and I ended up training after our conversation for a good hour. Before we met up with Izzy and Alec in his room. I had yet to tell the other two that Clary was my sister.

"Have either of you spoken to Jace yet?" Izzy asked, looking between Alec and I.

"He can call us when he's done chasing the little girl." Alec said.

"Alec, Val, you need to call Jace." Izzy said.

"No welcome home for the old man?" I heard Robert say from behind all 4 of us.

"Max!" Alec and I exclaimed, glad to see the youngest Lightwood. Max ran up to us and we kneeled down and pulled him into a hug.

"What're you doing back so soon?" Alec asked his younger brother.

"Got in trouble in Mumbai." Max replied, refusing to meet my questioning gaze. I looked up to the patriarch of the Lightwood family.

"He started a fire with his stele during rune studies." Robert told us.

"Max." Izzy, Alec, and I said. Max goes to hug both his sisters.

"I told you, I was hungry. I was trying to draw the Nourishment rune." Max told us.

"Those two runes look nothing alike." Alec and I said, before grinning.

"Well they do to me." Max replied, causing me to laugh.

"Max, go up to your room, open the Gray Book and look up the Extinguish rune." Robert told his youngest child. Max sighs and quickly leaves the room. "Where is Clary Fairchild? Your mother said she's missing."

"She's not missing." I started.

"She's with Jace." Alec added.

"We can't have that girl out of institute control. The entire Shadow World is looking for her. It's a security risk. Get them both back here now." Robert said. We all shared a look before Alec and I walked out of the room with him calling my brother. He put it on speaker the second Jace answered.

"You need to get back to the Institute." Alec said.

"You need to help me first." Jace told us.

"No, we're not messing around." I told Jace.

"I'm not either. I need your help."

"You okay?" Alec asked his parabatai, concerned.

"I'm fine. It's Magnus. He needs Lucy's powerful Shadowhunter energy, or something like that." Jace told us.

I shot a questioning look toward my parabatai who had joined us. She shrugged before we both heard Alec sigh. "We'll head to Magnus'." I said as Alec and Jace ended the call. "I'll meet you by the entrance." I shot toward Lucy. She nodded and walked away. "You might be right about him losing sight of us. You wanna come with us?" I asked the oldest Lightwood. He sighed and finally nods.

We joined Lucy by the entrance and I smiled gratefully when I saw she had my jacket with her. I slipped it over my shoulders and the three of us set off toward the High Warlock's apartment. "She's my sister." I said suddenly. I felt Alec freeze up next to me. "I don't remember my mother because she abandoned me, for Clary." I added.

"How long have you known?" Alec asked me as we continued walking.

"Since Magnus summoned Valek. He told me my earliest childhood memories were repressed because something traumatic must've happened for me to block it out. I remembered my mother talking to someone about her leaving with the Cup and that I was exactly like my twin brother." I said with a sigh. "The last thing I remember is her saying she had to do right by her unborn daughter and that she hoped I could forgive her."
