Val's POV

I quickly regretted my decision in helping Izzy for the wedding, but it kept me busy from arguing with Jace and Clary. Especially Clary who kept begging me to go to the infirmary and see Jocelyn.

"Which color do you like better? It's for the curtains adorning the wedding tent." Someone asked me while Izzy and Lucy were dealing with flower arrangements.

I looked between the blue drapes and the gold ones. "The cobalt blue. It's elegant, masculine... very Alec." I reply.

"I'll put the cobalt blue out right away."

"How are we supposed to get any work done with all this going on?" Jace grumbled.

"We haven't had a wedding here in years. People are allowed to be excited." Lucy said as she and Izzy joined me.

"We need to focus. Have you narrowed down the list of warlocks more powerful than Magnus Bane?" Jace asked.

"We have it down to 20 now." Izzy replied. I pulled up the list on the monitor in front of Jace.

"It's gonna be hard to figure out which one made the potion for the bitch." I add ignoring the glare Jace sent me.

"She's our mother." He said.

"You sound like Clary now. She abandoned us Jace. For Clary. Maryse is my mother. Not Jocelyn Fairchild." I snapped at him.

"I don't care how hard it is." Jace said going back to the actual topic. "We've gotta find him. Back at Renwick's I let Valentine go. I won't make that mistake again. We gotta wake up Jocelyn, in case she heard anything about his plan."

"Have you spoken to Alec?" Lucy asked Jace.

"He's probably busy, what with wedding plans and all. And I don't need to talk to anyone. Let's stick to the mission, okay?" Jace said. I rolled my eyes. I walk away with Lucy and continue with the wedding planning.

Alec's POV

I walk into the Infirmary looking for Lydia. I stop when I see Clary and Luke there standing by Jocelyn.

"I'm looking for Lydia. Have you seen her? I don't mean to interrupt or anything." I tell them.

"No." Clary says. I turn to leave so I can continue my search but am stopped. "Stay for a minute."

Luke says his goodbyes and leaves.

"So, how is she?" I asked.

"The same, I guess. Alec, I know you and I don't always see eye to eye on things. Actually we never see eye to eye on anything. But I do want to thank you for everything you've done to get my mom back." Clary said.

"Actually I should thank you. I don't know what would have happened to Isabelle and Val or Lucy after the trial if you hadn't returned the Cup. You saved my sisters and best friend, so thank you." I told her.

"My whole world turned upside down, but, um, you and I, thanking each other, that's too much." Clary says as we both chuckle. "Do you think you could convince Val to come see her?" She asked after the chuckles died down. Before I answer I hear my phone chime. I pull it out of my pocket and look at it.

"Um, Magnus needs to speak with me. He might have some information about how to wake your mother up or stop Valentine. It's important." I tell her. "Don't push Val to do something she doesn't want to do. She has to be able to forgive Jocelyn on her own terms and you trying to force her to sit in here with her will just push her away further." I add before I leave. I walk to Magnus's and walk through the apartment. "Hello, Magnus? You said you needed to talk to me."
