Val's POV
"For the love of Raziel!" I yelled when the alarm woke me up a few hours later. I quickly pulled on a pair of leggings since I already was in a t-shirt that belonged to either Alec or Jace. I slipped my feet into a pair of black flats that I rarely ever wore and ran down the halls with Lucy not far behind.
"The fuck is happeneing to set the damn alarm off?" I question as I pull my hair into a messy bun.
"Looks like someone's trying to break in." Izzy said. "What are you wearing?" She asked, looking at my clothes.
"I was catching up on sleep. Something that has become elusive since Clary showed up." I said before I glanced down at the shirt that had a few holes in it. "And I think it's one of Alec's shirts that I stole."
We all walked outside -after Lucy and I grabbed a seraph blade- looking for the person that set off the alarm.
"Drop what you're holding. Put your hands up." Alec said when we finally saw the figure.
"Raphael?" I ask. I looked down at the body he was holding and nearly glared as Clary called out her best friend's name. "Come on. We can go down to the Sanctuary." I add before leading the others over to the doors that led down to the basement of the Institute. Raphael carried Simon and laid him down on one of the unused tables after we opened the doors.
"People will start to wonder what we found outside the perimeter." Jace said breaking the silence we had fallen into.
"I'll go. I'll tell them we didn't find anything. Nobody will come down here." Alec offered. He places a hand on my shoulder, "You should head back inside and get some more sleep." He adds looking at me. I sit up after leaning against my parabatai.
"I'll be fine. At this point I'm used to only a few hours sleep." I tell him before he nods and walks out of the Sanctuary. I lean my head on Lucy's shoulder once more.
"I might be a vampire but I was raised a good Catholic." Raphael says as he makes the sign of a cross.
"The vampires breached the Accords. Killing Simon is grounds for war." Izzy says.
"It wasn't the vamps." I say causing all of them to look at me. "If it was, do you really think Raphael would bring Simon here? It must've been Camille."
"She attacked Simon on her own." Raphael added.
"How do we know you're telling the truth?" Jace asked.
"I could've gotten rid of him, but instead I brought him here. I don't want trouble with the Shadowhunters." Raphael said. "I warned the mundane to stay away... but Camille gave him a taste of her own blood, and like an addict... he came back wanting more."
"The only reason Simon ever tasted Camille's blood is because of you!" Clary yelled at the vampire. "You kidnapped him. You drug him to the Hotel Dumort. You... You delivered him to Camille!"
"Enough Clary!" I yelled at the younger redhead. "It's not his fault! The mundane was warned to stay away. Had he done that then the blood would've left his system in a week."
"I never meant for this to happen." Raphael said.
Clary started sobbing out Simon's name and begging him to come back. Had I not been as tired as I was I would've pulled her away from her best friend's corpse.
"There is a way." Raphael said quietly. I looked at the vampire trying to figure out his endgame. I knew what he meant though.
"'A way' what?" Jace asked.
"A way to bring him back."
"You can do that? How?" Clary asked looking at the vampire. "How?!"
