Chapter 3

"Alan?" Austin asked in surprise.

I froze in my spot. I was suddenly very aware that the arms that were holding me were the same arms that had beat someone up to death. But the strange thing was...I liked his arms holding me. They didn't seem scary but safe...

I eventually broke out of my trance and wiggled out his grasp.

"Sorry..." I blushed nervously.

"It's okay," he smiled gently, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm, erm- Lucas's friend..." I avoided his eyes. I still didn't know how to feel about him.

"Oh," He grinned and my heart fluttered slightly. He had a really beautiful smile.

I shook the thoughts from my head as I said, "I better go..."

"Didn't you need the bathroom?" He asked.

"It's okay, I'll hold it..." I said. What am I doing?! Why didn't I just go to the fucking bathroom?! Now I just look like an idiot.

"Okay..?" He chuckled lightly.

I blushed before saying, "Well, I'll see-."

"Alan? What's taking you so long?" I heard Jaime's voice call me before he popped his head around the door. His eyes widened as he recognised Austin, he gasped before quickly disappearing again.

I turned to look at Austin as he asked, "Who was that?"

"That was Jaime," I replied and shook my head. He couldn't have made it any more obvious that he knew about Austin's past.

"Oh," he sighed sadly, "I guess he recognises me..."

His brown eyes looked so sad and I felt my heart crack. He looked so forlorn at the way Jaime reacted and I felt anger towards him for making Austin feel like that. He made Austin feel like a freak and that was so wrong.

I instantly made a decision right there to ignore the rumours. Simply because someone who looks that devastated about being judged for what he did couldn't be such a terrible person.

"Ignore him," I said bravely, "Jaime's an idiot..."

Austin chuckled, "No, he's not...he's very smart."

Lucas's door opened again and this time it was Aaron who was gawking at Austin like he was an animal in a zoo. This was ridiculous...they were treating him like a freak.

"Move!" I heard Lucas's voice as he pushed Aaron out of the way.

He popped his head around the door and a big grin appeared on his face at the sight of us.

"Austin!" He called and walked towards us.

I looked at Austin and his reaction changed to one of pure delight. It was so beautiful that it made my heart swell. I really shouldn't be feeling things like for a guy that I didn't even know.

"Baby Arteaga!" Austin chuckled and engulfed Lucas into a big hug.

They were both laughing as they broke the hug.

"Well...not quite the baby anymore," Austin looked over him, "Jesus, you're taller than Tino now!"

"Yep," Lucas replied proudly, "Finally caught up with him! I'll be catching you soon!"

"I highly doubt that," Austin chuckled.

It was actually really bizarre but so nice to see them interact. It was like they were brothers and I guess that it would feel like that with him being Tino's best friend. I was kind of just frozen there, not willing to leave them because I didn't want to be interrogated by Jaime and Aaron.
