At the crack of dawn, I hear it.
It smashes through the glass of my windows,
Windows that dare not lock out such beautiful tunes.
Something fascinates me about the birds in the morning.
Their music awakens my soul and onto my lips,
They drag a smile I so desperately needed.
Morning songs are full of peace and full of hope.
Hope is what stares back at me through the window,
And I behold something enchanting about the birds.
Perhaps, it's the way their tiny feet grip the branches
After flying down from their nests in the treetops.
It's the sound of their chirping and chattering that charms me.
I love everything about the birds.
I gawk at them, looking out for the commander of day.
She rises from the valley, a warrior,
Burning away the misty remainder of a dark, cold night,
And caressing my face with the warmth of her everlasting rays.
Perhaps, what I love about the birds is their hopeful faces greeting a new day.
