I may be pretty
But pretty doesn't last long
Don't envy my vibrant colors
Friend, tomorrow I will be dead and gone.I may be pretty
But pretty doesn't help anyone
Don't envy my sweetness
The day ends with my fragrance gone with the wind.I greet the day with my best smile
And wash my face with silver dewdrops
It's a beautiful day when the sun smiles back
But then dusk comes and it all fades like yesterday.I'm the opening scene in a movie
Nobody gets to know me
Friend, I don't get to grow
So take your green and be thrilled with it.Because I may be pretty
But pretty doesn't provide shelter from the storm
Don't envy my softness
It is a weakness covered in silk. It's an enigma how you stand there wishing to be me
While I'm here suffering from fragility
Yearning to be as lush and overgrown as you
My smile indeed outshines yours. But beauty comes from within.
