girl next door

chapter 4- dazed and confused

i pulled up to dallys and walked in to see him and cosy on the couch.

"hey dal" i said sitting on the couch next to him.

"hey kid" he said.

"is hannah here?" i asked.

"think so she's probably in her room" cosy said.

"thanks" i said and walked to hannah's room. i walked in and chase was with her.

"hi guys" i said sitting down.

"hey riv" chase said

"hey" hannah said.

"shouldn't you be at the dx with harry?" chase asked.

"jen adderson showed up and was flirting with harry" i said sitting down next to them.

"so what?" hannah said.

"it's nothing new everyone likes harry" chase said.

"i don't know alright it just pissed me off" i said angrily. they both started eyeing one another.

"what?" i asked angrily.

"you like him" they both said and i felt my self enrage.

"WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK I LIKE HIM" i snapped.

"HE IS MY BEST FRIEND I DONT LIKE HIM" i yelled and they backed away. i was scary when i was mad. dally came running in.

"what's goin on man?" he asked and i turned around my face filled with anger and he could tell.

"oh is she having one of the winston rage fests" he said.

"WHATS THAT MEAN?" i yelled then realized

"oh" i said calming down.

"why are you so pissed off" he asked again.

"everyone keeps saying i like harry i don't!" i said still mad.

"you probably do" he said and i started getting mad again.

"calm down calm down" he said.

"look mae always said she didn't like soda when they were best friends and they ended up married in just saying it's possible" he said and i rolled my eyes.

"whatever i'll see you guys tomorrow" i said and went and got in my car and drove to the dx again. i walked in and harry was kissing jen. i felt myself getting infuriated.

"aint that a sight for sore eyes" i said and they jumped apart. i'm sure my face was red with anger cause harry looked a little scared.

"are you ok riv?" harry asked.

"just dandy why" i said sternly.

"i'm gonna go cya later harry bye river" jen said and walked out.

"why are you mad?" harry asked

"i'm not" i said crossing my arms.

"tell me what's up" he said sitting down and i hopped on the counter.

"i don't know i just don't like that jen girl" i said clenching my jaw as i said her name.

"why not she's been nice to both of us" he said.

"you know arizona's ex cheated on her with jen right" i said.

"no i didn't but that isn't jens fault" he said and i kept getting more and more mad.

"whatever do what you want" i said and he just nodded.

"when do you get off" i said.

"10 minutes" he said and i nodded.

"you know you should probably work instead of making out with girls" i said and he laughed. i started calming down.

"can you close up early?" i asked.

"probably" he said and switched the open sign to closed and we hopped in the car.

"wanna get food at dingos?" he asked and i nodded and pulled into the diner. we walked in and out usually waitress brought our food and milkshakes to us. we started eating and i was quiet most the time which wasn't normal for me.

"what's up" he said kicking my leg.

"nothing why" i said

"you're being weirdly quiet" he said.

"i dunno just don't have anything to talk about" i said and took a sip of my milkshake.

"oh okay then" he said and we were silent the rest of the night until i pulled into my driveway.

"sorry i was quiet tonight that isn't like me just had a rage fest earlier as dally called" i said and he laughed.

"it's alright see you tomorrow" he said hopping out the car and i did the same.

"night" i said and walked into the house and set my keys on the kitchen counter and sat down.

"hey riv" mom said walking in.

"hey mom" i said and grabbed a brownie off of the plate near me and took a bite even though i wasn't hungry.

"everything ok?" she asked.

"yeah why?" i asked.

"dad said you might have a little crush" she said and i rolled my eyes.

"mom i get that you and dad were best friends before you fell in love or whatever but we are NOT emma and soda we're harry and river that doesn't mean we are gonna fall in love or whatever you think is happening" i said and she just rolled her eyes.

"river i didn't say you were me and dad i'm just saying it's possible" she said.

"ok i realize that but i don't like him so everyone needs to stop acting like i do" i said and finished the brownie.

"ok sorry" she said and kissed my head.

"goodnight" i said and walked upstairs to my room.

(harry's pov)

i walked into the house and plopped on the couch. my sister willow came and sat next to me.

"hey willow" i said.

"hi harry" she said and laid in my lap. then mom and dad came and sat by me and willow.

"is this some kind of family meeting" i joked and dad smiled.

"how was your first day at the dx sodapop told us" mom said.

"great" i said sighing.

"dally stopped by saying river wasn't very happy" dad said.

"why?" i asked

"you tell us" mom said.

"i feel like this turned into an interrogation" i said and they laughed and i started playing with willows hair looking down.

"we just wanna know if you have any idea why" dad said.

"i don't know she just doesn't like this girl jen that was there" i said not wanting them to know i was kissing her.

"why doesn't she like her?" dad asked.

"uhhh" i said and looked back down.

"you like this jen girl and she doesn't right?" mom asked.

"how do you know everything?" i asked and she laughed

"i'm a girl and her mother's best friend" she said and i just laughed and kept playing with willows hair until she fell asleep.
